Kanekichi is a short walk from the banks of Lake Biwa, Japan's largest lake. In the old days this lake was known as Þuous (Omi), or the near sea where Omi Beef gets its name. Omi Beef is one of the first brand types of Wagyu and, in my opinion, one of the best. It can be a bit busy on national holidays and during the cherry blossom season, and the small farm parking can fill quickly, but we went a little early on a week night and had the place almost for us. We were picked up to a comfortable and spacious private tatami room with a great view of the Japanese garden outside. The majestic weeping cherry was not in flower at the time, but it is wonderful during the Sakura season. We have the Omi sirloin teppanyaki course, with a small appetizer of roast Wagyu beef. If you've never had a really great piece of Wagyu, you literally don't know what you miss. It is so delicate, so tasteful, and really melts in your mouth. The food was so good, the atmosphere and the service so pleasant, and we all had a nice time. It was my first experience with Omi Beef, and I cannot think of a better place to have experienced it as Kanekichi.
Extremely delicious beef at a reasonable price. Very good service!!!!
It was delicious. 4 stars It looks good for the occasion to eat without worrying about money. The price of the drink is higher and cheaper.
