The chef is an expert in making curries. I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted his chicken curry.
We were part of a large group of almost 100, There was also a wedding in another part of this fine old mansion.I can't comment on the cost, because the event organisers appear to have used it as a fundraiser. Our meal, a buffet, consisted of a main course followed by instant (!) coffee. The food, though well prepared and with adequate serve size, was nothing special. Unfortunately, both the lamb and the chicken were luke-warm (lamb) and cold (chicken). Health issues aside, this indicates a lack of professionalism which was evident also at the bar, where service was very slow and the bar staff were running in circles and past each other in order to do their tasks. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but this was primarily due to the friendships around our tables.Upmarket, historic surroundings. Barely average meal. Terrible coffee.
We go to this restaurant regularly, mainly for their Wednesday curry night specials; beautiful curries made by a talented chef. The setting and view would have to be as good as anything in Orange, very green and the golf course and main buildings are steeped in local history. Try the curries; you won't be disappointed.
My father in law likes the finer things in life, so we thought having dinner at his golf club would be a really nice place to eat.
