I had the jolt chicken sandwich and it was delicious. the person who took my order was aware of the importance of veganism and everything was clearly marked. one of the chefs accidentally gave me a non-veganes sandwich, and the person who took my order took it on to notice and correct the problem. I am also excited about the community work that this organization does. love it!
I have not had the opportunity to try their savory pies, but the sweet blackberry pie was incredibly tasty! I regret not purchasing a larger portion. My only critique is that the establishment is not vegan. I had assumed they were a vegan business because they were present at a vegan event, but unfortunately, they also serve meat.
I visit this restaurant every Saturday at the Grand Lake Farmers Market. All the profits support their reputable organization, UHURU, which has been thriving for over 40 years. My top choice is the curry lentil pie, which has a traditional Jamaican vegetable taste. Personally, I am not a fan of the jerk chicken, but that's only because I don't enjoy fake meat. They also offer a variety of sweet pies, many of which are vegan, such as sweet potato pie, BlackBerry, and others.
I stopped here for lunch while browsing at the farmers market. I ordered the jerk chicken sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. The staff member who took my order was well-informed about veganism and all items were clearly labeled. Although there was a mix-up and I was given a non-vegan sandwich by mistake, the staff member quickly noticed and rectified the mistake. I am also impressed by the community service that this restaurant is involved in. I really enjoyed my experience here!
I haven't tried her delicious cake yet, but the sweet blackberry cake was delicious! I wish I had bought a bigger size. My only criticism is that they are not a vegan business. I thought they were a vegan business as they were at a vegan event, but it turns out they were selling meat.
