Mcgee's Pub - New York

I m fan of “How I Met your mother” so wanted to see what was about this place that the group always was meeting up in this bar. We were seated in booth. Ordered cocktail- the naked man and veggie nachos. It was overall a good experience. There was a baseball game going on and a-lot of people were cheering and stuff.

Fan or not, for everyone who has ever watched the How I Met Your Mother sitcom, this place is a must visit! Said to be the original Maclaren's Pub, they have special HIMYM cocktails!!! I was tempted to order the Robin Sparkles, but instead, we settled for a Barneys Blackout and Iced Chocolate Roll, followed by a Wait For It, because this place is simply legen...dary! Also, do not miss out on their droolacious Mac and cheese that convinced me why pub food is better than fine diners. The service is quick and the servers, super friendly. They all know their history well and will tell why exactly HIMYM fans flock here!

First if your going only because of HIMYM id say you maybe skip this or at least not feel bad you didn't have the time to see it. Mcgee's only inspired the pub portrayed in the show. Nothingbwas shot here from what I searched. I was little confused because nothing seem to match. Now the pub its self awesome! Super friendly staff and you'll see a bunch of HIMYM photos from the show. The vibe of the pub definitely feels cozy and friendly. The sweet potatoe fries were great. The drinks were good as well. The Mcgee's Red was a good draft beer.

The best part is seeing what inspired HIMYM. The worst part is that it’s not McClaren’s. If you expect it to be McClaren’s you’ll be disappointed. If you go in with the right expectation and grab a scotch and soda or one of the specialty HIMYM-themed drinks, you’ll be happy. The service isn’t too great (probably used to mostly serving tourists) and they aren’t super accommodating to off-menu drinks (it’s an Irish pub and not a craft cocktail bar, after all). Just stick to the specialty drinks, skip the over priced food unless you’re really hungry, and check this item off your bucket list.

This was a fun place to visit if you like “How I Met Your Mother” tv series. Although the show was not filmed here it was the inspiration for the setting of the show. We had show inspired drinks. I have the Robin Sparkle, yummy Crown Royal apple pucker and cranberry juice. My daughter had Don’t Drink Tequila.Service: 4/5
