Many people have been talking about this diner, so we thought we’d give it a try. Great food and the service was great too considering they were packed! Loved the corned beef hash! The coffee was good too!
Our favorite brunch place! Clean, great service, very friendly staff! Prices are reasonable as well. Love the addition of the outdoor dining with sun umbrellas.
Great food, great staff. Food comes decently quick even when busy.
This diner has been open for more than a few years, first opened as a breakfast place in the morning, then later with lunch and extended outdoor seating and a few additional hours in the afternoon. Eating here for the first time this weekend was shocking to see how full the restaurant was with customers! A larger room than expected, each stand and table was full. We had to wait for a place to be cleaned before we could sit. Most people eat a lot of eggs and pancakes or waffles. My partner and I came around eleven, but chose to change to lunch to look at their afternoon specialties. Soup or salad comes with lunch, so we have offered one of the two soups, chicken with rice and New England clam chowder. Our waitress brought us two big bowls and oyster cracker packages. Both were well prepared, but I preferred the chicken with rice. Beautiful delicate squares of chicken, carrots and the correct amount of white rice in a well seasoned chicken broth. The Chowder had a good amount of shells and potatoes. You have no appetizers on the menu, so we decided to share a sequence of curly frits while we waited for our main dishes. Really good. Crispy, curly and properly salted. The Short Rib-Special with Potatomaic was tasteful, but as someone who cook this really well, the rib could be even tenderer and the creamy sauce was different. The Chicken Marsala Special I ordered to see how a diner would cook this dish compared to a restaurant. It had a small boneless chicken breast with the spinach side as more of a shrimp, and a good pots of potatoes I added salt and pepper, but the Marsala sauce the boss got right. Everything was good here, but I prefer the place on the street a bit in Barkhamsted I checked for GM several times, where everything is very good. As regards this diner: service is very friendly; casual interior with tables and stands; according to the volume of customers of any age; no alcohol drinks. The price of the two meals with coffee and frits was around $30 each with tax and tip. We brought half of our lunches home. Open seven days a week 6:00 p.m. 15:00 p.m.
