I finally had a day up there where it wasn 't overly busy. I asked my fiancé the magical question of Would you like a hash breakfast? . He perked up like a puppy asking if they want to go outside and play. I drove to the store which wasn 't far at all. I walked in and was welcomed to not only a friend lady but amazing smells. I ordered his hash breakfast and a breakfast sandwich for me. I asked to add chèvre and they did it without blinking an eyelash. I watched them cook it and within 10 minutes it was all done. I was asked if I needed ketchup and hot sauce before I could even speak. Amazing customer service! I took our meals to the car and drove off. As I was driving I found myself falling in love with the smells of the hash my fiancé ordered. Even though I can 't eat it, it smelled sweet and savory. I couldn 't wait to see his reaction. When I arrived he dived in. He stated the eggs were cooked perfectly (even with the drive) and it was great! I tried a potato from the hash and it was SPECTACULAR! It made me wish I could eat the dish. My breakfast sandwich was equally amazing. The English muffin was definitely homemade. The egg was over medium. It was flavorful and had a bit of a run to it that just added to the magic of this sandwich. The chèvre was perfectly balanced throughout the sandwich. If you can 't guess, I will be back! Next time.... we are trying their pizzas and sandwiches!!!
I heard about New Gloucester Village Store from my friend, who lives in Los Angeles. While visiting in Maine in the past, he was introduced to NGVS and their bakery and their English Muffins. When I went to visit my friend, I asked if there was anything I could bring with me to LA. He immediately responded, English Muffins. He shared his story of learning about their bakery, he is in love with their muffins. So, I decided to venture out to New Gloucester to purchase these English Muffins. I was surprised when I arrived and walked into the the store. What a great space. You can order off a menu and sit inside, or take things to go. I could not find the muffins and had to ask where they were located and was directed to the lower level. What??!! What a cool space and so many options, including the English Muffins, which were big and delicious. I had to buy a bag of 3 for myself and two bags of 5 for my friend. When I arrived to LA and unpacked them...he was so excited and immediately made some up for me to try. I do need to go back and check out the Village Store again...they offer up a full array of groceries, spices and the bakery. Thanks again.
Love, love, love this place! I work in New Gloucester and when working late I come here to grab a sandwich for lunch or dinner. I have had a few items here ranging from breakfast sandwiches, soups, salad, wraps and lunch sandwiches. My favorite it there chicken salad, so fresh, so good! They don't over do the mayo which may places do which in my opinion over powers the other flavors. They sell many choices of beverages to quench your thirst including seltzer water, spring water, variety of juices and bottles teas. Hot coffee and tea have their own are for self service. Below the cafe is a small grocery store with fresh baked products that include bread, cookies, muffins, scones, and cakes. Fresh produce and refrigerated condiments are sold as well. Parking is small but I always seem to get a spot. When in New Gloucester be sure to make a stop in.
New owners or new business strategy. Very few items on the menu and in the store. Bummer. Got a sparse and bland chicken Caesar wrap. Didn't try their pizza. Very few beverage options.
I 'm from Wisconsin, so when visiting Maine as a Midwesterner, we 're told of the campy autumn Wonderland that Maine is. This restaurant is AMAZING. It has all of the charm and serendipity that I hoped to see when visiting Maine. This is enhanced by a food and drink selection that is, honesty, damn impressive. From over a hundred beer varieties available to having organic sparkling tree water that fit into a Keto diet plan. The staff are incredibly friendly and actually helpful when making decisions. Plus the pay before you leave , variety of table styles and window views all make for an incredibly welcoming and cozy feel. I would absolutely come back (hell, I 'm probably coming back tomorrow)! As an additional silver lining there was even a gorgeous big bearded guy behind the counter. So if your favorite part of autumn isn 't the leaves and is instead the bears, still 100% recommended. #TravelCub
