Portofino - New Farm

All I can say was the service was terrible and the food when it eventually arrived was at best average. The service was so slow that we gave up on waiting for our main after yet another hour had pasted. No apology was even offered for the poor service.

We chose this for a family brunch. it was our first time but won't be our last. The variety of choice on the menu was unique, tempting and delicious. Good value and highly recommended.

Portofino is a terrific modern Italian dining experience. I think modern Tuscan is probably more accurate. You know you've found people who are serious about what they are presenting when there are less than half a dozen each of entrees and mains on the menu. This is because each dish is a delight of flavour and texture. Such as a melt in the mouth osso bucco, chicken with eggplant and herbs, pork and fennel sausages with baked polenta. And the pastas! Beef cheek ragu anyone?? As with all Italian restaurants you order side dishes (contorno) such as vegetables or salad as an addition to the main dish. However, each side dish is generous - the idea is to share them. The atmosphere & service are busy and cheerful - on a night when the place is full & rocking it might be a bit over the top for an intimate or romantic meal for two. But it was perfect for our family of four who were celebrating a birthday dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our night.

I've been to Portofino 4 times since being introduced to it by Grab One vouchers in the last 6 months. The first experience was abolutely wonderful and we had absolutely declicious food. The service was prompt and friendly, the range of dessert was amazing - which the only downfall is which one to choose.Another experience with Portofino is in a large group for a birthday and again the restaurant was very accommodating, prompt, friendly and efficient. The staff are incredibly nice and friendly.Parking is a little difficult as the only parking area is on the street outside the restaurant if you can get one.Portofino is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would highly recommend dinner and dessert (dine in or take away) here at Portofino for declicious authentic Italian.

A couple of lunches suggest Portofino has an excellent kitchen staff, with skills at producing taste bonanzas whether the dish is small or large.
