Trefethen Family Vineyards - Napa

I had a disappointing experience with their Legacy Collection tasting. While the wine tasting itself was decent, the service and hospitality left much to be desired. The tasting location was nice and mostly private, which was a plus. However, a last-minute addition of a party of two to our group changed the dynamic; they appeared to know the chef, which made my group feel like outsiders. Overall, the experience felt awkward, and it was a poor first impression, especially since I was really looking forward to the tasting and had paid for all the extras.

During our time in Napa, we wanted to indulge in wine tasting paired with food at a vineyard. We decided on Trefethen Family Vineyards' "Taste the Estate" experience at their historic winery. The tasting took place at the original manor house, where we were seated outside on the porch, providing a stunning view of the grounds and gardens. It truly felt like we were in a botanical paradise. The atmosphere was intimate and peaceful, and the small bites we were served were not only delicious but beautifully presented as well. You could tell that Chef Chris puts his heart into every dish. We were especially impressed with their reserve cabernet sauvignon. I would highly recommend the "Taste the Estate" experience at Trefethen. Our host, Jenny, was friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable.

Our Trefethen Vineyard Tour and Tasting with Michael was the highlight of our trip! Michael was incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming to all our questions. It was thrilling to learn about and witness the process from seed to vine to grape to glass. The wonderful tasting that followed made it the perfect morning!

Wow! What we booked as a last minute reservation for our Napa itinerary turned out to be our favorite tasting experience in the valley. Trefethen is a truly wonderful place and immediately stood out through not only their welcoming atmosphere but their commitment to sustainability. They are stewards of their land and it shows. My husband and I had Adam lead us through our tour and tasting and he was so incredibly knowledgeable and was genuinely excited to answer each question we asked. We learned more about the grape growing and wine making process on this one visit from Adam than we did the rest of our week in Napa. To top it all off, the wines were delicious and we ended up leaving as Trefethen wine club members after having sworn to ourselves at the start of the trip we wouldn’t sign up for any wine shipment clubs. I cannot recommend a visit to Trefethen enough if you find yourself in Napa, it will be well worth your time!
