This pub has a dedicated gluten-free fryer for their fried foods, such as onion rings, fries, and fish. They also have gluten-free buns for their hamburgers and offer one gluten-free dessert option. The staff is very attentive to gluten-free protocols. The location is great, right by the water! Both the waitress and the person we spoke to beforehand mentioned that most menu items could be made gluten-free. I only sampled the fish and chips, but they also have gluten-free burgers available. The service was outstanding.
Stopped here for dinner after a day of fishing food was great. Fish piece were smaller then served in Ontario so get 2 pieces. Crisp and fresh
Had so much fun taking the Dinghy Dock Ferry over to Protection Island for my bday dinner. We arrived a good half an hour before departure. Parking can be a challenge but suggest underground near Cameron Island-do not park in the Thrifty's/London Drugs area near the Nanaimo Casino due to the ferry to Gabriola-they monitor it carefully and you will be towed!!!Going over is 10 minutes after the hour and return from the island is on the hour.We caught the 5:10 PM ferry and it cost $9.00 return for adults. Seniors 65 a little break. Takes about 10 minutes.Get off right at the dock and go right to the pub on the water.Delightful server and great food. Gorgeous view of Nanaimo and Vancouver Island. WE sat outside but inside is an option. Does Take Out and if you are a boater you can moor up alongside and dock for dinner.Very fun evening and special surprise for bday dinner. We live on Vancouver Island and had never done this! Visitors would also enjoy. Protection Island itself has homes privately owned with access by boat only. So it isn't a place to go to visit and wander around. We went just for dinner. Returned at 7 PM and they will do double trips to ensure you get off the island for the night.Delightful setting-good service-good food-variety of choices and options for gluten free and diet restrictions.A must do...
The Dinghy Dock Pub is a neat little spot with a beautiful vista! The staff were all very friendly and super busy running food and drinks to tables. The food was great! I didn't want the battered fish and chips so the waitress suggested a baked cod instead which was really great! It was a gorgeous view right on the water. I'll definitely be back to enjoy this cute spot.
