I live in western CO about 2 hours from Montrose, and vegan options are hard to come by in this part of the state. We ate here after our flight arrived in Montrose. There are 2 vegan options on the menu, but we both tried the tamales. The sauce was tasty, but overall there was too much salt in the dish. Also, the presentation was lacking. The portions were on the small size, and it looked sloppy on the plate. So, I wasn't overwhelmed. Seemed like Mexican fast food, but not at a fast food price. The chocolate cake was tasty. Apparently, the baker is the owner's son and is vegan.
Our group tried the Spinach and Black Bean Blue Corn Enchiladas, the Jackfruit and Potato Tamales and the Thai Peanut Stir Fry. All were able to be vegan-ized and were delicious. We finished off by sharing some Chocolate Cake (vegan and gluten free). The whole meal was the perfect reward for our trek through the nearby Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The owner was very nice and welcoming as well!
The jackfruit and potato tamales were good, although a little bland. The chocolate raspberry cake is vegan and gluten-free, and also good. They have a patio with trumpet vines that hummingbirds frequent.
Food here tastes very fresh. I ordered the vegan Enchiladas with salsa and guacamole and everything was fresh. The red sauce was great. Updated from previous review on 2022-04-26
