We were early and had wonderful service but as the restaurant became crowded the staff seemed a little stretched but they never missed a beat-clearly a local neighborhood favorite and worthy of the accolades!
We went there because of their rating on trip advisor and our experience was up to expectations. We had a 6 course meal with pairing and have nothing but good things to say about it. Would recommend to anyone in Montreal and we will be coming back
A new restaurant under the leadership of Chef Claude Le Bayon, Chasse-Galerie is sophisticated and charming, greatly aided by an enthusiastic and friendly staff. The food is Nouvelle Cuisine rather than Quebecois, and is as good as many of the best restaurants I’ve enjoyed in France. We ordered the chef’s choice, Epicurean menu, and were delighted that we did so. Every course was a pleasant surprise, beautifully prepared and brilliantly presented. I did think we could do with one less after-dinner sweet course, but that is only because I so enjoyed every savory dish put before us. The wine list is excellent, though they could use a few more wines by the glass for those of us who like to order different wines with distinctive courses. The cocktail list could also use a little work, leaning too much toward the sweet end of the spectrum. I hesitate to make even those small qualifiers, as the quality of the meal is what counts. The chef’s menu is a bit expensive for Montreal, but completely worth it. Make a reservation and indulge.
Excellent table setting and service. we took 6 service menu, the food was well cooked and prepared. The taste of dishes was equilibrated and with nice contrast. The menu was a crescendo, but unfortunately the sauce of the main dish with quail was too acid and a neutral taste. too many dishes with the foams. Dessert really modest. Although we are used to French restaurants, the portion are really too small...
Having read so many wonderful reviews we booked it. We arrived on a Thursday at 6:00 and the place was almost empty. I would characterize this as French tapas. We both ordered the six course tasting. Zabaione with mussels, tomato with raspberry, mackerel with ice cream and onions...etc. Everything was delicious, but we ate virtually everything on the menu, and not the kind of dishes one would want to eat over and over. What about tomorrow? Seems that they are making the same dishes over and over and over again. This seemed an odd combination of creativity and rote. With the great restaurants one wants to return as soon as possible. Not the case here, at least not for us.
