This could have been dangerous for someone with a serious almond allergy. The menu did not list almonds as an ingredient, so we were caught off guard. When we brought this up, the waitress simply said "Oh" and brought us the bill to pay. The service, in general, was lacking, especially considering the small size of the restaurant and the number of waiters present. Our water ran out during our appetizer and was not refilled until after we finished our entrees. For the prices charged at this restaurant, the service should have been much better. Overall, I would suggest going to a different restaurant, such as Joe Beef, down the street, instead. Our bill for two people, including tip, one appetizer, one drink, two entrees, and two desserts, came to around $200. Take this feedback into account before deciding to dine here. Dietary restrictions and allergies were not observed.
The pasta at this restaurant is exceptional! The flavors are delicious, the ambiance is cozy, and you'll definitely want to return. Everything we tried was fantastic. You have the option to order a small pasta dish with an entree or a larger pasta dish. The risotto special was especially outstanding, and the stuffed squash blossoms were delightful.
I went to Nora Gray for a last-minute solo dinner at 9 pm and as always, it did not disappoint. I was seated at the bar and the entire staff was welcoming. The bartender was attentive throughout my 2-course meal. The portions were generous enough for me to enjoy a primo and secondi, and I always like to try something new, which has never let me down. They even provided plenty of bread for me to mop up every last bit on my plates. It is definitely worth the price!
Elevated Italian food in a small restaurant located on the other side of the tracks, a superb ambiance, and super friendly service make for an attractive package. One can dine outside on a terrace, at the long bar, or inside on wooden tables. On an absolute scale, this is a five star place, but because I must compare it with eateries at the same high price level, I give it a four. The selection of antipasti is wonderful, featuring duck hearts skewers, among many other goodies. The primi piatti pastas can be ordered in large size (at a whopping double price) so they can substitute as a main dish. My tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms was out of this world. But the absolute winners are the various gelati easily the best I have *ever* had. I sampled the olive oil and cherry ice creams, and still dream of it every night. The accompanying amaretti are equally outstanding. The wine list is a disaster though. They seem to think that natural wines are the way to go when I asked for a classic chardonnay, they had none. Niente.
Every bit of dinner was fantastic. We had wonderful cocktails to start, and each of us enjoyed our starters. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine list (according to my friends) and helped them select a bottle appropriate to our meal choices. I enjoyed the tomato salad immensely the dressing was perfect. And the gnocchi with morels was delicious. The pasta dishes are offered in half and full portions. Since I only had the salad and the pasta as my meal, I went with a full size and it was perfect. We had to leave room for dessert hard to pass up on affogato when it's offered. I don't really understand the negative reviews here. We thought it was wonderful, and everyone around us seemed to enjoy their meals as well. My only complaint might be the over attentiveness of our waiter. He stopped by the table to refill our water glasses seemingly ever couple of minutes, and it sort of affected the flow of conversation. And that is a very nit picky complaint, I know I'd return here in a heartbeat for sure!
