Great place. montrose is a great, small Chinese restaurant family run and great eating. eating there for 4 years had never had a bad meal! not fantasies, but not expensive. if they are in ndg, they will check it.
Tried the Chinese food on delivery. Took around 1 hour if not a bit more. That could explain why the food was from dead cold to close to warm, which does not help the evaluation...The soups (wonton) were ok, so would have been the egg rolls if not totally cold. Main courses were unequal, fired rice was very untasty, the chicken pineapple balls were ok and the singapore noodles were good. Decent size for each. A bit disappointed that no fortune cookies were included. Around 70$ including the tip, it is fairly expensive for what it was...not sure I will order there again...
This is the second time I order from them, the first time the sushi was pretty average, kind of expensive for what it was and took too long to deliver (over 45 minutes) . I tried ordering for delivering again today, on a Saturday at 2:15 pm, I took one hour and 15 minutes before delivery, which they charge 2.50$ on top of the fact that they won't deliver if your order is under 20$ pre-tax. The wonton soup was gross to say the least, no meat to be found, just mushiness and luke wark liquid. The "shrimp dumplings" were a dark brown colour and they were soggy and only tasted like shrimp because the overpowering fish smell was unmistakable. The chicken fried rice was old and gooey and tasted like old, I don't even know how else to describe it. The pineapple chicken was a few balls of soggy chicken next to a few cubes of dried up pineapple. The spare ribs were okay I guess, and there's this other dish I am looking at, I don't even know what it is, but it is also gross.Sorry dudes, this is the first time I write a bad review anywhere but I spit half the food out. Please stop sucking.
Located in the Somerled Village (Cavendish and Somerled) area of NDG, this family Asian restaurant is a great place and certainly not expensive. The bill for 3 people was only 60% of what I paid for 2 people at a similar but less tasty venue the same week. The decor was so old it qualified as retro; my 30 something son asked me to explain the ceiling suspended gas fired furnace, as he had never seen one before.
