This was one of mine and my friends' to-go spots after a long day at school since this location was only a bus stop away. We always chose to sit at the big wooden table right at the front entrance of the store while we enjoyed our bingsoo and did our homework. Definitely recommended! EDIT: I just realized that my post from 2 years ago never posted. I'm sad that they announced their closing due to Covid-19. I will definitely miss this spot because I love the ambiance and the bingsoo : Sincerely wishing the owner the best and hope to see them re-open Hooshik when times get better!
Ah... I miss you so much. Hoping that there was a way for you to come back. The vibes and music were always on point and the bingsu was was always perfect. Loved bringing all my friends and family here; everyone ended being so surprised and happy with it. Most of them became frequent customers before the pandemic, and if you were to come back I 'm more than certain they would too. Alas I wish you the best! Thank you for the great memories and actually thank you for bringing me comfort on of, if not the worst, days of my life as well. Thank you again! Amazing! Absolutely fell in love with it. The workers are really friendly and the atmosphere is nice and intimate. Ordered a Strawberry Falling Snow or also known as Bingsu (Korean Shaved Ice), and I didn 't have to wait for long to receive it. The presentation was beautiful, almost didn 't want to eat it because it was so pretty. Not only is it nice to look at but it is also delicious! It 's not too sweet, it 's perfect but they do give you a side of condense milk if you want to add more sweetness. I will definitely be coming back and trying more off the menu. The employee 's really made my day with their friendliness and quality of dessert!
This place was my favorite Bingsoo store, a shame it had to close. I would always go with my friends their balance of fruit, milk, and ice were just right fit my preferences. Really miss this place
Wow, I forgot to Yelp Hooshik after my visit last February, and now it appears to be closed, another victim of the pandemic. I hope it 's able to reopen in some form when things go back to normal, but if not, I 'm at least grateful I got to check it out once. I went with June K. after lunch at Chengdu Taste (a casually gluttonous day hang with a dear friend--what a wonderful thing that I 'm sure I took for granted at the time). We were in the mood for dessert, found Hooshik on Yelp, and decided bingsoo would hit the spot. We 're both Korean and grew up going out for bingsoo together in Koreatown, so this was an unexpected treat during our afternoon in Monterey Park. The cafe was clean and cute and entirely empty on a Tuesday after lunch. We ordered from a nice ajusshi at the register and took a seat at one of the many tables. We got our shaved ice, or falling snow, in big bowls on a cafeteria tray. We opted for the black sesame and fresh strawberry falling snows, with a side of mango to go with the strawberry. Both were delicious, cold and sweet and satisfying. I loved the soft, delicately creamy texture of the shaved ice, or milk snow, that formed the base, and the toppings were all superb. The black sesame came with black sesame, red bean, injeolmi rice cake, and sliced almonds, the strawberry with fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and red bean. I haven 't had bingsoo since this outing and I would pay a lot of money for another bowl of this falling snow. If Hooshik ever opens up again, I promise I will be there.
Soooooo sad to see this business close. I don't know where I can get another walnut almond latte. You will be missed.
