Cocina Candela - Montclair

My experience was amazing at Cocina Candela. We made reservations online which was super convenient. We were given bread with a delicious herb-garlic butter compote that was devine. We started with the sorullos de maíz stuffed with cheese and the bacalaitos. Plated beautifully and tasted even better. My wife had the shrimp mofongo and I had the Arroz con gandules with pernil. The rice had the smoked ham just like my mom does it. Every bite brought me home. I’m a Jersey native, but Morovis Puerto Rico runs through my veins. Muchas bendiciones Candela. Tienes un pedazo de Borinquen pa’ lo que están ausentes como yo.

This charming little restaurant offers delicious food and friendly service. The food came out quickly, and I had a wonderful experience overall. I would definitely visit again!

This was my first visit, and we absolutely loved it! I went with a small group for a special occasion, and both the food and ambiance were excellent. The food and service received an A+! I can't wait to return!

If your looking for delicious authentic Puerto Rican food, look no more. My family and I have been here several times and the experience as a whole has always been great. For brunch I ALWAYS get the crab eggs Benedict, YUMMMMMMM!!!!!! I promise you will not be disappointed. ALL of the dinner dishes are absolutely amazing, the quality of food is great. The owner usually comes out and greets us to see if our meals are good, such a great touch.
