The food is a complete taste of back home. We are from Goa and every bite reminded us of home. They had music that night too and we enjoyed dancing as well.
Excellent sorpotel , beef fry, sannas on this visit. The food menu is limited but the food is spot on! Very good family run business.
I usually don't like to write a negative report on any restaurant as it takes tremendous effort to run one. A restaurant that has been there for a decade or more and still survives is worth visiting. Decided to try them with family. Here are the good and bad: Decor: For a restaurant that has been around for so long - the decor, table arrangements was pretty bad. Don't get me wrong - it was clean but just all badly arranged. The restaurant was empty save two families but all tables were joined together in long rows with 10 chairs each. Didn't feel like private dining but a communal buffer. The cutlery was missing, no salt and pepper shakers, no napkins. Service: the owner Aloises (Loy) doubles up as the server, chef, and take out order taker in phone. Spoke to him for a good 30 minutes during the meal and realized that his main business is party/ take out. This could be the main reason for lack of attention to dine in customers. My advice is either he should close the dine in or bite the bullet and get more staff. Food: when you call your restaurant "Konkan" then be sure what you serve has an option for "Traditional" style cooking. Ordered the following:- Fish Cutlets: really nice and crisp. However it completely lacked any "Konkan flavour" or spices. Quite bland and good for people's who can't take the heat. Tilapia Fish fry: quite average. Pork Vindaloo: the spices were right. The heat was too low. Had asked for a bit more "firey" but they couldn't make it that way. Made me wonder if they had pre cooked and it was "heat and serve". Nevertheless enjoyable. King fish curry: Stellar. This was a really good dish. Recommended. Rice: why am I writing about rice? Well the only type of rice that they serve with everything is type of pullao. Very tasty but a bad combination for Konkan food. I did ask for plain steam rice but again they were unable to serve it. All in all - maybe they were having a bad day or dine in is not their focus. I would ask my friends to order a takeout but avoid dining in. Got to go there a second time to see if my analysis is correct.
I can't say enough good things about the butter chicken in this place!!!! Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great food for parties and dine in. Restaurant can be booked for parties. Potato chops (12 for $18) very delicious.
