I visited Millerton NY for its Rail Trail and after biking with my daughter; we were very hungry. Due to Covid 19 they did have outdoor seating. The food was good and there was a steady flow of customers stopping in for pick up. This one square block of Main Street features a classic dinner, antique shop, book store, artisan cafe and tapas spot for happier times to come. I would come back once. a week during the summer to discover the trails.
This was our first dining-in experience in over 3 months, and it was GREAT! Taro's pizza is A+, their prices are excellent, and their service is super-friendly and fast. We've eaten here many times before and we'll definitely be back! (Note: mask usage was 100% perfect.
Pretty sure they scammed me. I called in an order on the way back from a long trip. It was clear on the phone that I didn't know the menu by heart, so I think the woman taking my order thought I was an easy target. I went in to get my order and the price seemed very high. I am local and like to support local businesses, so I didn't say anything and left a big tip. I had a weird feeling about it though because the woman who rung me up kept talking about how she wrote her prices down to ring me up and kept making a big deal about how much she was charging me. I looked up the prices after I left and definitely think she purposefully overcharged me. I love Millerton and love to support all of the shops in the area, but that just gave me a really bad taste in my mouth. So bummed out.
Taro's seems to have new owners. I am really glad they didn't close. The big changes are that they now take credit cards but don't have a liquor license. Maybe they are planning to get one? I didn't ask if you can BYOB because that would be great. I thought their pizza was very nice. It had a good crust and tasty sauce. Seems like the last reviewer had a bad experience but we didn't and there were a lot of locals picking up take out on a weekday evening. It is important to support these places or we are going to live in more of a food desert. Taros, movie and then ice cream all in the same evening. Overall a great experience.
