Today after enjoying my almost 80$ meal, my boyfriend and I go to pay and the owner (I believe) starts complaining to him about the tip we are trying to give. It was a 5$ tip which I understand might be a little low but we are about to have a baby, so we’ve been trying to save, it’s something. She proceeded to take the handheld card reader over to the main POS up front, and added a $12 tip on to our bill.. didn’t ask or tell us just wanted us to sign for it. My boyfriend noticed the bill was significantly higher and said why is it 7 dollars more.. She said because we spent this much money on food we NEEDED to give her a 15% tip.. which I’m sorry but no I don’t. Even if you are going to charge someone that you should have it posted.. when we tried telling her we don’t need to give you 15% we can add a custom tip, she told us we were poor and mean and never allowed back, which after being yelled at I wouldn’t return there anyways. I had never felt so much disrespect before in my life. All I can say is don’t plan on leaving here without having to give them 15% tip.
I ordered Pineapple fried rice with beef and fried rice with no meat. The dessert was Sweet Mango. The rice was overcooked and did not taste like it was Thai. I am not exaggerating when I say it reminded me of minute rice that had too much water.. The cashews and pineapple were all that I tasted. There were 5 or 6 small pieces of beef that had no flavor. I asked for #2 heat and could not taste any curry or spice. I was very disappointed. The dessert was another letdown. The sticky rice was old and the mango was a little sour. It was just tossed into the container and looked pretty unappealing. The 42.00 price of the meal was definitely not worth it. We ordered to go and it was crazy how they expected us to maybe share a plastic spoon and fork along with a single napkin. we asked for extra soy sauce and she gave us 1 each. The service and meal matched. Both were poor
I have a Thai spot that is closer to me, but it doesn't compare to the food at Thai Patio. Fantastic service and probably the best Thai food in Mesa. I can safely suggest the orange chicken, pad Thai, Kung Pao, pineapple fried rice, pot stickers, and spring rolls.Food: 5/5
No shrimp in your pad Thai? That’s weird. But ok. So I asked for it to be added. They charged me $6.49 to add shrimp. Ok. So how many you think I got? 4. I got four shrimp in there. A year ago this meal was chicken and shrimp (like a normal pad Thai) and was like $13. So it came $20.75 for a pad Thai chicken shrimp combo. I won’t do that again.
As an employee of a local business I frequent this establishment at least once a week! Usual 2 times a week and have been for a few months. The service from the staff, and owners is top notch. And the quality of the food is unmatched. Always fresh and so flavorful. Highly recommend this restaurant!
