Little portions, but the food is good. Average restaurant. Nothing special about this restaurant...... Authentic Mexican Yukatekan food at a reasonable price. Do not expect anything special because of the name “FRIDA ”.
Usually Lonely Planet gets it wrong occasionally, but this time, boy was it wrong. The first clue that the meal was going downhill, was the lack of people there. Should 've listened to my gut and walked back to Calle 60. The second clue, was how...long it took for the drinks to come, even with two tables there. The food was terrible. Their specialty, was the most disgusting rendition of Mexican food I have ever seen. It was horrible. The chile en nogada should be served with a creamy sauce topped with pomegranate. These people gave me the chile with macchiato cherries. Yes, cocktail cherries. I 've never been more disappointed and disgusted at the same time. When I asked the waitress why they would do that, she said because pomegranates are out of season no further explanation. I tried to eat the filling but it was also gross and quit after two bites. If that doesn 't convince you not to go, both my boyfriend and I got diarrhea right after visiting.
We ate twice in this lovely decorated restaurant. The lady that owns it does about everything, one night we saw one other person in the kitchen, the other night saw someone helping to serve. the food is really good, authentic home style Mexican. Worth the...visit!
Tried a lot of different food at La Casa de Frida. Amazing food at the best prices. The 65 peso lunch menu is so huge we had no room for dinner later just lovely, strong margaritas. Lots of different rooms and big gardens for lots...of different dining options for groups, families or intimate too. Can't wait to go back
