Coriole was the outstanding winner who was sweet for our long weekend of eating and drinking in mclaren vale. it is the perfect balance between informal and formality in an absolutely divine garden. if the weather is nice, they ask for a table outside under a...umbrella! it is a leak in the sunny environment while it is away in its beautiful fiano. I admit to being a little laborious before going there, knowing that they serve only 5 or 7 courses at weekends. While we understand the arguments for this “business model” for restaurants, we are always happy to have more control over what we eat mainly at weekends when it will be food overload! but it turned out that there was no reason to be grumbly. 5 dishes were all absolutely fantastic, reasonable portions and exactly what we wanted to eat! the dishes were so vivid that they were thrown into the environment, burst color in the garden: especially the calamari looked so at the teller, and the quality beef was perfectly done. after 4 x 10/10 tellers, the dessert of fig and oliven seemed a bit disturbing. but no, another beautiful dish. the delivery of this teller was a little strange. another waiter put it on the table when he had served us everywhere, and immediately told us that there was no way that she might remember how to describe the court because she was new, or it was a new court or something! sure she could have brought a paper slip into her bag to get us the description and read it – that's not a sin when they learn! I would like to go and do it again, this time with the wee pairing that appeared very favorable. our only disappointment was that our visit to the cellar door afterwards proved fruitless. there was no beautiful fiano yet to buy :
The wee are great and variable. the personal is very informative and friendly. wine tasting is a great experience. when they buy the initial cost, will be deducted. great experience in an excellent environment.
We have shared an excellent lunch with the family! booked last minute and came to a cold and wet afternoon to be greeted with a warm fire and friendly staff. that was extraordinary. the waiter food knowledge and explanation of all ingredients and their sources were very appreciated. the Coriole wines we selected were delicious. we finished our meal perfectly with lime competition four that are not served in our set menu, but friendly anyway! such a simple gesture, but so beautiful. it was a lunch we will remember for a long time and look forward to returning with family and friends.
Lovely winery setting. We had the $70 5 course lunch. Fixed entrees and dessert and a choice of 3 shared mains. Highlight was the beetroot starter. We had the beef main course which was good but a bit small for 2. Chocolate dessert was tasty...but very rich. We didnt realuse shared main was the deal when we booked. Maybe I missed the fine print . For a couple to have to share a main from a choice of 3 is very restrictive . Vegetarian, chicken and beef. Very hard to get consensus so picking beef was a compromise. I didnt want pumpkin and she didnt want chicken, so picked beef which was 2nd choice for both. Coffee was Ok.
