We have been going to Cheng's Garden for at least fifteen years and have always found it to be a sure bet for a good meal, both Chinese and Japanese. This last visit was quite a disappointment. We ordered some rolls, sashimi and shrimp tempura. The shrimp was not coated in a tempura batter and it seemed like chopped shrimp that was formed into a long slender shrimp shape, probably frozen from the taste. The seaweed paper on the rolls was soft and difficult to bite through, resulting in the piece falling apart with the first bite. I do not want to shove the whole piece in my mouth at once and prefer to take a few bites. The tuna in the tuna roll was tasteless and had some of the white membrane running through it, making it fairly tough and difficult to eat. The spicy tuna rolls were not spicy either. The tuna sashimi was a nice color, but was just ok and lacked flavor. The prices were not bad, but not inexpensive either. I am sad to lose a good, reliable restaurant, but I'm afraid it will be a long time until we go back.
Went being skeptical about going in the restaurant since the parking lot was a little empty , but let me tell you guys don’t let that fool you . We went in there and the place is really clean , smells good , and the personal are really nice . The server was 10/10 in service . The sushi was amazing, best I’ve had in years . Shrimp fried rice was also great with nice flavor . Will be coming back again !
For the price, the serving portions were small. Food was passable, not exceptional. Service was a little slow and not very attentive. We'll just go to Mings or imperial cathey next time. Save your money and get better food!!
This is the only Chinese restaurant that's good around here, other than Ming Garden. They are both awesome.
