Hot sake came out cold, one dish didn't come out until we got our check, and it was hard to get the servers attention to check in with us ever. Maybe just an off night? I would be willing to go again since their food was so good!
We waited too long while others with larger parties came in and left before we got our order. Our servers never checked in on us and when we asked for an update we were told their machines never saw our order? Weird. It didn't seem busy and it felt like others were getting special treatment. When our food did finally come the fish was so bland it tasted like something you'd buy packaged from a grocery store. The only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars is for their delicious cocktails but sadly I would not return.
I have not been here in years, as the location is tucked away , and honestly forgot about it.... Sorry...But as luck have it , I did not feel like driving in Little Tokyo on a Friday evening. So here we ended up and it was actually really good !!!A cold large Sapporo , popcorn lobster roll, yellowtail, and albacore hot the spot....... but my favorite is always broiled yellowtail collar when done right. That was delicious with the ponzu and I could have eaten 3 myself. Now I will remember Yakuza more often
A few of us finally decided to check this place out, after driving by it an innumerable amount of times each time we went into the city. Parking was a bit tricky, with most of the lot taken up for outdoor seating, but we were able to find a spot. When we got there around 7, it was mostly empty. We were seated pretty quickly. Among the four of us, we ordered some nigiri and a roll to share. If i can remember, we ordered the lean tuna, yellowtail, albacore, spanish mackerel, eel, about 2 pieces per fish per person. The nigiri was a good portion nice healthy cuts of fish. The fish itself was also pretty fresh and the sushi rice was nice as well. The rolls were just okay. Fish portions could have been better there. The servers were friendly and attentive, and checked on our table multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. We asked for more wasabi and ginger and they were happy to give it us (I know this kind of thing is pretty standard, but I saw a review saying that the restaurant denied another reviewer extra soy sauce... which I find very difficult to believe given that there were bottles of soy sauce at each table). The bill came out to about $55/person, for about 14 pieces of sushi per person, putting us roughly around $4 a piece. Would definitely come back to have a sushi dinner when not wanting to have to book ahead or to shell out the $100+ for an omakaze somewhere!
Amazing food, great service and homey vibe. My favorite was the protein cucumber roll, takoyaki, and black spider roll. There was something off about the scallops but wouldn't say they were bad just not my favorite. Lychee cocktail is
