The service at this restaurant is excellent, with attentive but discreet staff. The menu is great, with frequent changes, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced. I definitely recommend this place for everyday dining.
We 've been to On The Hoof before, but that was over a year ago. The evening menu is rich and varied and very good value. No drizzles and tiny blobs good grub, well cooked and served and very, very tasty. Sourdough and olives to nibble at and salt and pepper squid to start for me. The Chilean Merlot was off the wine list, however there was a rich, fruity and very dark Argentinian Merlot which really hit the spot. Their Polish lagers were also very good. I had a great pasta dish with tomatoes, capers, anchovies and a whole lot more really tasty and filling. Duck leg on Dauphinoise potatoes with red cabbage went down very well and the rib eye steak got the best steak in years accolade. Peppermint teas and an outstanding Espresso served in a dinky little china cup makes a change to drink Espresso from thin china cups. Efficient friendly service, meltingly good food HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
The service was excellent, the staff were extremely attentive and the owner even came over to thank us at the end of the meal as we had been their first online booking. The food was very nice. I had the beef bourguignon and my partner had the burger and I would recommend both. The portion sizes were generous, particularly with the burger. Converted from an old opticians, the interior is unique. They have retained features such as a timber clad wall which is filled with photographs of members of the public wearing different pairs of glasses. I think they've created an interesting and rustic, relaxed setting in which to eat. Good value for money and definitely worth a visit!
