We ordered beef hor fun, chicken congee and fish with choy sum congee. Taste was authentic and the congee seems popular with native HK-ers. However we foind that portions were small and the congee ingredients were stingy. The male waiter was very efficient. This was about 5.30pm on 28th Aug.
Nice food, very large and diverse range too. Prices are high but the servings are very large. So if you can eat a lot it's good, otherwise one dish could serve two adults. Even though they are on Amex shop small list, they say they don't take Amex.
Normally we quite like Cha Kee, the quality of food is quite good, reasonable portion. DONT order the red bean drink. It was like watered down milk with a few red beans at the bottom. The drink was completely white. Even after I complained it looked exactly the same with just a few more beans.
Huge serves of each dish so make sure you have good eaters to go with you. Hong Kong food differs from other Chinese dishes and I was glad they did not try to stick to “Australianising” their style. We had their salt and pepper squid, pork ribs with Peking sauce, beef with tomato and egg and Chinese broccoli stir fried with garlic. Quite delish. They also serve some fancy hot or cold (50cents extra for cold teas such as Pomelo lemon tea, which was really nice. Be adventurous and try dishes at random. What’s the worst that could happen? ;
