Restaurante Apeadeiro - Lisboa

Is a busy restaurant at lunch time, service is fast and the food is good, nice French fries. Traditional cuisine.

We have got into the habit of asking, Where do the locals eat . The O Apeadeiro was just such a place and did not disappoint. From entering, what at first looked like a small coffee shop we were shown through to the large restaurant area. The food was wholesome, unpretentious and just what was needed after a long day travelling in the car. My steak with mushroom sauce was delicious. The staff were very nice and our young waitress spoke excellent English which she explained was from watching films and music videos. The owners daughter had recently provided him with a grand daughter and the joy in his eyes was plain to see. He came over and spoke with us, the waitress interpreting, to explain how happy he was. Finished off with a complementary local pastry and a glass of tawny port. A real family place worth a visit.

I went to the restaurant with colleages for a lunch in the middle of the week. the waiters are very sympathetic and professional. The food is great and they have a big variety of different food.
