Keintzel Wirtshaus-Bar im Alten Rathaus

You are really feeling Austria, from the decoration to what you get in your dish. I enjoyed a Wiener Schnitzel there. Recommended for business or tourist.

This place is a little hard to find. It's right off the main square. Go into the building with the tourist info, walk past it and keep going until you get to a courtyard and there you are. It's outdoor dining in the courtyard. Not...sure if they have inside dining. They offer daily lunch specials and local beer. The food is very good and extremely affordable. Some of the waiters have limited English skills, but you can get by well enough.

We came here based on its great reputation on TripAdvisor. However, upon walking in, we were immediately told they were full, despite there being an obvious number of empty tables of two. The man who appeared to be the manager told us we had to...sit at the bar if we wanted to eat, before hesitantly giving in and brushing his hand in the direction of a free table in the corner. The rude waitress was impossible to hail down. Every time we tried to motion for her to take our order, she avoided eye contact. It took 20 minutes for her to take our drink order, by which time we were ready to walk out. Food was mediocre at best (why do people like this place so much?! . Meal was finished and empty plates sat on the table for another half an hour. We went to the bar to pay at the counter and the rude/abrupt waitress and her colleague continued to ignore us while speaking Deutsche and waving hands in our direction. Bottom line is, this isn’t a place for tourists. There are so many great options in Linz for a decent meal, without the headache of arrogant and abrupt service.

Greeted at first by an unfriendly man (proprietor? . Seated, then soon thereafter very friendly young man who brought us menu in English and took our drink orders. Wife had Cordon Blue with a fresh salad with an awesome dressing described as olive oil, vinegar boiled,...the cooled. I had lamb steak , seemed like a tenderloin, I should have ordered rare, came a little beyond medium rare. Overall very good meal.

The restaurant in the nice patio. Traditional food for example a wienner schnitzel. And delicious vegetarian dishes. The very nice service. Definitely five stars.
