Al Ponte - Lavertezzo

We hiked along the grotto to the Ponte dei Salti (bridge) Beautiful weather. The hike was great, but you need to be able to hike on uneven terrain.

Very nice place to stop during a visit to Lavertezzo, to have some delicious local ham and cheese, soup, a glass of wine. Warm and typical house with also a lovely terrace.

The Grotto was fantastic and a way to stretch out our time next to the Verzasca River and the cool double-arch bridge. We ordered the Platto Ticinese, with bread, local dried meat (pork) and Alpkase. The house red was excellent! We ended the meal with a bread pudding tart and Nocino. We got by with our so-so Italian but really, you can order by discretely pointing to other people's food. The outdoor seating area is quite nice with a beautiful large tree providing shade. They sell their Nocino, which I wish we bought but it's a good reason to go back again sometime!

This is our second visit to the valley and second visit to the Grotto. The family who owns the Hotel Posse recently bought it and have spruced it up a bit. Last time we were here, tried some of the cakes, which were great. This time we went for a refreshing gelato after our long hike. The Movenpick ice cream never disappoints, and if you love chocolate, it's to die for! We live in Italy, so you can take our word for it!
