It was chewy, lol never in my life had we ever had chewy chow mein. Not sure as to why it was so tough. The chop suey seem to be Ok but not great. Beef was chewy to. I call, and they want to give me a new chow mien and SS pork but they were they didn't want to spring for the chop suey also. I thought, why on earth would I want a meal of just chop suey without the other Chinese dishes. As it turned out we drove back to the place and got our money back. I will never go there again. If they would just gave us our dinner 2 for another time, I would try them again but I guess that is not happening. I don't think it would have helped. if you can't tell the difference between good food and bad I'd be going there for another let down anyways. I can't figure out how a restaurant can't know what they are serving. Obviously they don't care. Then argue how great their food is. I wouldn't be complaining if it was editable. Who ever heard of chewy chow mein. It's just noodles. Then try and tell me it isn't. I asked her if she tried it and she said no.lol I'm not that fussy especially when we are hungry : but I get PO'd when you can't eat it. Needless to say we had poached eggs on toast for dinner that night : At least it was edible and tasted pretty good too.
Never been disappointed with any order we have had from Dragon River. Consistently good. Always order the vegetable chow main, secuzen beef, yummy and the lemon chicken.
We were looking to have good Chinese food in Walnut Grove. So went to Dragon River Chinese restaurant. I eat here about once every 2 weeks or so. We ordered food for take out. As always, the food is ready just as I arrive, which is about 15 minutes. The prices are pretty standard and the dishes are all large. This food is not greasy like a lot of other places. They dont use msg! The food tastes so good! I always order curry chicken on steamed rice, thats my favorite for lunch. Try the orange chicken or deep fried prawns, they cut the tails off. Everything I've tried here is awesome! You cant go wrong! Family owned and run, very nice people. They always remember me.
We only found this place because of a coupon. We suggested that they put up some lights inside their window, but they said the strip mall management had rules about no Christmas lighting. I think that is a shame. I felt sorry for this restaurant because it is tucked in behind the Van City and is difficult to find but some extra lighting would definitely have helped us find it. Fortunately for them, they have a good take out service. I would have given them a better rating, but their black bean sauce tasted more like a beef gravy with some black beans added. That was definitely disappointing. There was a table full of all her books and paper work which should be kept in the back, or at least hidden with some sort of folding divider from the rest of the restaurant to keep the dining area at least appear to be fully available for dining only. The portions were a bit small considering the prices they charged. They are not speaking the unspoken North American language of huge portions full restaurant .
We have lived in the Walnut Grove area for two years now, and just noticed the Dragon River restaurant. We made reservations for four (not needed) and when we arrived we were seated in a preselected large booth immediately. Service is quick and friendly. Food was very fresh and delicious. Four individual dinner plates, with wine for all and Spring rolls totalled $65.00. There was food left over. My only complaint would be that they have only two types of wine. A Red and a White. Thankfully the red was Sharon's favourite Shiraz. They did not have my Pinot Grigio. It was so quiet on a Friday night we thought they had just opened; but the manager said they have been there for three years. Surprisingly quiet and I suspect they must do more take out than eat in. That's too bad as it is a very nice spot for an enjoyable quiet dinner with friends and family.
