Hissho Sushi - KITTERY

The staff is fantastic, always smiling and eager to assist! The food is delicious! I was initially hesitant, but now this is my go-to sushi spot. I usually go for the Poke bowls, but I have also tried some of their sushi roll combos and they are always fresh and tasty. I usually opt for the prepacked ones, but they also make them to order, which is great. I would eat here every day if I could afford it.

The poke dishes are packed with fresh ingredients. There are plenty of options available at a great value.

The sushi chefs at this restaurant do a decent job with what they have, but unfortunately the upper corporate management leaves much to be desired. The Poke bowls are priced at $10.99, but the cooks are restricted to serving only 6 oz. of rice per bowl by management. Despite this limitation, my bowl, including the plastic container, weighed about 13 oz. which comes out to about $1.00 per ounce. This price seems excessive for undercooked rice and farm-raised salmon with pink food dye, as they skimped on every ingredient. For $10.99, one would expect a meal, not a snack. The portion sizes have significantly decreased in the past 6 months, with the poke bowls now only filled about half as much as before for the same price. While I understand the challenges posed by inflation, blaming the Democrats for it seems unfair. It may be beneficial for the restaurant to increase the price of the Poke bowls to $12.99 in order to cover the cost of filling them to the top again. Personally, I will not be returning to this establishment, but perhaps this adjustment could help them save their business.

I usually opt for poke bowls, but I have also sampled various sushi rolls, which are consistently fresh and tasty. I usually go for the pre-packaged options, but they also offer made-to-order rolls. The prices are reasonable and you get a lot of food for your money. If I earned a bit more, I would eat here every single day!
