You know immediately when you drive into this McDs that it’s going to be an interesting experience by the length of the car queue going into the Drive Thru. Do not let this fool you .... it’s not because it’s popular! Tip #1 if you’re eating in (and this is an experience NOT to be missed), park on the “outbound” row of the 10 available car parks or you will be stuck behind said queue until you die trying to get out. Entry into the “Restaurant” is clever marketing, it looks fine, it’s not. You walk into a bank of those soulless and annoying self serve machines, surrounded by waiting customers everywhere, in a tiny serving area ....But don’t worry, you’ll soon understand why, and anyway, there are far more staff than customers, so behind the counter is even more packed and chaotic. You’ll start you order, which you will get to the very end of before it tells you require a table number, at a table you’ve not yet sat at. Again, don’t be concerned, you can’t put in the full table number, there are no actual hints, and it doesn’t matter anyway as no one is ever actually going to deliver to a table .... so go ahead, put anything. Sit at your chosen, noted, table ..... and immediately lower your already lowered expectations. That queue, all those customers, they weren’t there for nothing. Expect to wait .... and wait ..... and wait. When you finally assume you’ve not actually ordered, and wandered up to the counter, you’ll be greeted by ..... absolutely no one. Which is surprising given the massive number of very young staff all milling around or standing at the order prep area doing nothing. Occasionally a very “busy” staff member (last time a particularly “busy” young woman) will come to the front counter to literally scream out an order number at the Customer assembled less than 10 feet from her. This is a jarring experience, but don’t let it fool you into thinking that people are actually getting their food. Do NOT, I repeat do NOT ask her for help, if she doesn’t scream at you, she’ll snatch your receipt, no words, turn her back, and you’ll be left receipt less with still no idea. Wait, for another stretch at the counter, while doing this enjoy the endless returns and queries at the counters of incorrect, missing or Un received orders and the “Manager” barking at people that they “have to calm down” When .... if ..... you finally get your order, remember, it won’t be delivered, and be prepared, it will be basically tossed at you. This is a test of your attention and dexterity, and takes your mind off the lack of any common courtesy. Staff are too “busy” to engage in any way. When you get back to your table, expectations rock bottom, you’ll be far less upset than normal by the incorrect order. I can’t vouch for how you’ll upset you’ll be if there is anything missing, we had all the right number of items. The drinks will be either hot or cold, depending, but the opposite of what they should be, food, will be dry, overcooked and incredibly badly presented, but you’ll be starving, so you’ll cop it rather than attempting to have the order fixed. You now feel an immense empathy with all the previous returners and gratitude that the experience is nearly over. Went at 10:00 am on a Saturday .... got our food at 10:40, ate, what we could and we’re out by 10:45. This is nudging Moree NSW (where the staff seem to fight all the time), as the worst McDonald experience in inland Australia, it’s loud, uncomfortable and poorly laid out, the staff are badly trained, inefficient and either dismissive or blatantly rude. The food is pretty awful, even by McDonalds rapidly lowering standards. All round the usual bad experience at Kingaroy, just more than normal. Two stars only because we were starving and it was somewhat entertaining in a Fawlty Towers kind of way, but not enough to eat in there too often!
Once again you have failed to train your younger staff. Not only do they talk to one another constantly but they fail to read a order and get that correct. It’s time the store manager too some more responsibility and maybe let some team and managers go until you get back to a reasonable standard. It is just not good enough when they fail to leave half of the order in which its was too late to return back to the store. I hope manament start to take these complaints seriously as you too need to be more available by phone when there needs a Complaint given back and that you seriously take the time to have a stern word to Friday nights staff about their poor customer service and preset devlivery.
I am not a huge fan of fast food, but I decided to give McDonald's a try for the first time in six years on the recommendation of some friends. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food available now. I was also impressed that they deliver your order directly to your table.
Called in for a quick drive thru as we were in the road. Guy who served us was efficient and very friendly. Then the two girls who go our take aways were both so happy and friendly as well. Food was good. But the friendly staff really stood out. Nice experience.
