We shared the crab cakes appetizer; sweeter than we 're accustomed to but this is, after all, a Thai restaurant rather than an East Coast seafood place. Still delicious, no bread-y filler. I loved my Drunken Duck, with rice and fresh vegetables. Hubs had grilled mahimahi and really liked it; came with potatoes and fresh vegetables. And, I ordered my very first ever mai tai (yeah, living dangerously, lol) because their cocktails are reasonably priced. Very good meal, if you 're in Kaapa!
As a Vegetarian visitor in Kauai, I am so happy to try Lemongrass Grill Seafood Bar, the Asian Fusion Fine cuisine! The service is excellent. Ambiance is beautiful and great positive energy with sounds of flowing water (abundant flow). My ordered with Medium spice in different days were: Red Curried Vegetables Definitely underscore Lemongrass's Award winning curry (my favorite) Yellow Curried Vegetables So tasty!! (With minced Garlic) Dessert House Made Hula Pie New Year Eve Celebration! Their curries are perfect blend of herbs and spices. I love the types of vegetables Chef consciously selected in the curries. The aroma of curries and Jasmine rice are mind blowing! I kept coming back after trying several fine restaurants and food trucks in Kapaa, Kauai. Asian fusion curries are my favorite! Their other dishes are amazing with Chef's creative genius! Highly recommend! Thank you. Kathy
The food was good but my portion size was small. I ate everything and was still hungry. I ordered the scallops. My husband ordered the signature dish and his was a much larger portion. The food was delivered quickly but the waitress never smiled and seemed unhappy to be there. The inside was nice and the bar area was full. Seemed to be a popular week liked place.
We came in for happy hour; we actually saw the sign when we were driving and decided to stop. It is a cute island vibe, with fun tiki drinks. Service was okay but not great. Mai tai (4/5): Pretty strong, not too sweet which I like. Egg roll appetizer (4/5): This was tasty, but super small portions. Like 3 small lumpia eggrolls, not worth it for the price.
This is such a cute establishment with solid wood construction, you really feel as though you're in an authentic Thai restaurant. Staff is very friendly and service is prompt. Here's what we had: For starters we shared the crab cakes, unfortunately it wasn't crisp on both sides. One side was golden while the other side was soggy and oily. The crab cake itself was flavourful but the mouth feel was a little thick and goopy, possibly due to not being entirely cooked right? Our mains: We ordered the macadamia nut crusted seabass which is served over rice and fresh vegetables. The portion is generous and the fish cooked perfectly! The other was a red curry chicken and we like our curries spicy hot but when it came it was super salty and could barely eat it! I think what they did was just add a lot of Sambal or some other hot sauce to make it hot but it also made it super salty too. I really wanted to like this place more but the dishes were inconsistent and more fusion than authentic. Plus coming from the Westcoast, we're pretty spoiled with great Asian cooking! It's a shame that businesses have to cater so much to tourists that they lose their true flavours. For that I can only give them 3.5 stars but half stars aren't an option. Hopefully they can get better consistency with their food flavours and cooking. Also the seating area outside is really nice except for the road noise and trucks blaring music! Not cool anywhere in the world.
