First of all we were charged $38.94 for 6 fajita tacos that were so small and hardly no meat on the tacos that you would of got better tacos at Taco Bell. Then $9.69 for 2 egg tacos and kids tenders were $8.98 . Very over priced! We never got a refill on our drinks and to top that off we had the waitress that brought us our food throw a plate down at one of our guest she was very rude. We went and told someone at the hostess stand and no one came to our table to talk with us about the incident. The food and the service was really bad.
Went to dinner with some friends tonight at 6pm. They were not too busy, so we were seated immediately. After getting our drink order we asked for some tortillas which were brought out no questions asked. We had to ask for more chips and for drink refills. My husband ordered a side of guacamole with his dinner and had to ask for it 2xs. The biggest kicker...we were charged $7 for the tortillas with no one advising us there was a charge or it stating it on the menu that they don't give you, then the guac was $3.50 for the smallest ramekin of it and to top it off, they charged us a fee because we paid with a credit card which once again is not told to you or mentioned ANYWHERE. This was one of our favorite restaurants but never again. My son and I shared fajitas and my husband got a burrito and with a few drinks, our bill was $165. Absolutely ridiculous and believe me, it is not about the money! It is about the principle and how you handle business. Being shady is definitely not how you do it.
Restaurant was recommended by friend but I think that person loved the drinks and sports bar atmosphere. The salsa was full of flavor but not hot at all. Great for Children. I ordered a combo plate to try different things. Taco was good but the Tamale was sweet which was weird and the Sour Cream Chicken enchilada had no flavor. The sauce was just watered down sour cream. Not the typical sour cream sauce you get at other restaurants. Rice was mushy but I did like the veggies in it. Overall, not worth coming back for the food.
I have driven by here many times and it looked really cool. We finally decided to try it. Wait time to get seated was very long. They were not at all busy. We saw many empty tables but we had to stand waiting. Another couple behind us had to wait as well for a very long time. Staff gave the excuse they were short handed. Hostess asked us twice how many in our party (2) and if we want indoor or outdoor (indoor). We were finally seated. Table was wobbly. I know somebody wipes each table so they would have known that table is wobbly and since there was nobody there we should have been seated at a good table. Chips and salsa were delivered without a word. Chips had old stale chips mixed in with fresh chips. Waitress finally came and asked for our drink order. I asked for a menu. She gave us a card to scan for the menu. I asked for a real menu. She said they don't have them. No apology given- just they don't have menus. I told her I want to leave. She just said OK and didn't care. As we exited I told hostess this was my first time but they will not get a second chance. She just looked at me and didn't say a word. I have no idea how the food is and I will never find out now. So we went down the street some more to Cha Chas and the service was awesome and the food delicious!!
Food is so so at best. But my big issue is how deceptive they are. Only when paying the bill were we informed that the restaurant charges a 3.5% surcharge for credit cards. Nowhere on the menu is this listed, nor is it posted anywhere in the restaurant, nor were we informed of this hidden charge until the conclusion of our meal. The manager was entirely unhelpful and said if we didn 't want to pay the surcharge, someone could run down to the bank and get some cash. I believe that this restaurant utilizes theft by deception and banks on the hope that most people won 't notice or complain that they are adding on hidden surcharges. I 'm not the least bit surprised to discover that El Arroyo has a D- Better Business Bureau rating! I 'll never return to a restaurant that so brazenly tries to deceive their customers.
