Came here to watch my daughter's violin teacher play in the 3 piece band on Thursday night. The music was great! The atmosphere was also nice and cozy feeling. I'm mid thirties and my wife and I were the youngest people in the place by at least 15 years. Like a retirees convention or something inside the place. The food was mediocre at best, it was served hot and nicely but the fact is it lacked any creativity or flavor. it's all basic cisco foods delivery that they cook up. Nothing high quality about the food but we will go back for the music and cocktails.
The seafood soup was great. The side salad was o.k....mostly just spring greens. The dressing was great, though. Corned Beef and Cabbage was a great disappointment. No flavoring. The beef was tough...like cutlets. The waitress was excellent. Plenty of parking. The cost was a bit high for what it was.
Great, cozy place with reasonable prices and good food. Had the Brussels sprouts, jalapeno cheddar soup, and pot roast.
I have to take Truth to task after a vist last night, because we had pretty poor service, which soured what would have been an otherwise enjoyable meal. I went there with my dad for an early dinner 5 pm, ok? He hadn 't had lunch, and I was hungry too. There were two tables full in the place (a long one with about ten people, including several kids, and a 4 top , and the hostess stuck us in between them, then took off before we could ask if there might be another place to sit (my dad 's back was right at the elbow of one diner at the smaller table . We had to ask our waitress instead, who made her displeasure known, though she did find us another place (not hard the restaurant was EMPTY! , though was a bit snippy for the first half of the meal. I think she realized as time went on that we weren 't pleased, because she eventually thawed a bit (probably in fear of her tip , but by then the tone had been established. While we were waiting for our meal, a busboy came out and plunked two wine flutes in front of us. My dad said, What are these for? as we hadn 't ordered champagne etc. The boy said, Uh, I don 't know, she [the hostess] just told me to put them here. Okay....They sat there for a while; when our waitress came by Dad asked her what the deal was, and she had no idea, so thus began a flurry of questioning the busboy, the hostess, and so forth. It finally came out that he was supposed to take the same number of glasses as our table 's designated number somewhere, and he messed it up. Um, okay. She then whisked the glasses away. Hope she knew that I rubbed the rim of one with my finger to get an errant lipstick smudge that the dishwasher had missed. Overall, an awkward episode. The food itself was excellent; my previous review still stands on this aspect. I had a filet, which was perfect; it came with mashed potatoes, which could have used some oomph, and didn 't even come with any butter (we still had some left from the fabulous Milano bread, so I used that , and al dente green beans. Dad had pot roast, which was about three servings ' worth, and sent up tendrils of steam like dragon 's breath throughout the meal no need for a warmed plate, clearly. Despite the wonderful food, the service on this occasion really left me cold. Even something like getting water with lemon seemed to be a problem I ordered it that way when she took drink orders at the beginning, got plain water; when she asked if we needed anything later I asked for lemon for the water and finally got it partway through my steak. It 's the little things, as they say. And again, it 's not like the place was mobbed, so the details might fall through the cracks no one was in the place at the time. I have only nice things to say about the girl who brought the bread, took plates, brought refills, however; she was polite and definitely on her game. Everyone else could have taken a lesson. We will probably be back, as this is one of the better dining options in the SW suburbs, but Truth truly needs to up the game on hospitality.
