Here you can enjoy fresh and different Korean foods. highly recommended!
This is the favorite vegan restaurant in jeonju! (Korean name) while not a unique vegan restaurant, they offer a vegan version of their set menu on a discount (10,000won per person instead of 15,000won per person for the meat set). the vegan menu is not yet clearly shown (I hope to change this) so in the meantime they must tell the personal that their table is vegan, then fortunately they will provide the vegan menu for them. the meat menu is slightly different, it contains only one side of bulgolgi, but the meat menu suppe (doenjangjjigae) contains sardelle, so please tell them they are vegan! * the chef and owner of gamloheon, , focuses on the creation of medical food with vegetables in their own garden. this type of food is most popular among older koreaners, as they will explain the health benefits of any dish that either woman cho or the workers will happily explain to them. their attention to detail and crafts in the kitchen sets their restaurant of many places in the city. in addition, due to changing seasons, ms. cho adjusts her menu to provide the best ingredients at this moment, resulting in a somewhat different meal each time. each meal begins with a hot tee (the current offer is auberginen), followed by a vegan sweet soup, yellow rice and at least 15 different bananas (side dishes). I always go for the fried banchan, but then I work my way through every side dish to find a favorite. this week my favorite was a dehydrated fruit with a rich, almost gochujang-like sauce, although I always enjoy the fruit salad embroidered with a creamy tofu sauce. it reminds me of the waldorf salad my mother served at Thanksgiving, but with a Korean turn! the delicious spread ends with another tee: a cold, bitter lemon tea that should help with digestion. last month, woman cho had only floor seats, but she has recently changed to offer chairs to appeal to travelers from abroad. reservations are highly recommended, as peak times can be done and they may run out of the banchan! they can easily go to gamloheon from the new tor of the chonbuk national university, as it is in the geumam neighbourhood of jeonju. I recommend gamloheon always as a way to impress her hospitable and family, regardless of whether they are vegan! updated from the previous review on 2019-09-08
Great experience with tasty and healthy food, highly recommended!
Gamloheon is my favorite vegan restaurant in Jeonju! Although it is not exclusively vegan, they offer a discounted vegan version of their set menu for 10,000won per person, compared to the meat set menu which is 15,000won per person. The vegan menu is not clearly displayed, so you must inform the staff that your table is vegan in order to receive it. The chef and owner, 조현주, focuses on creating medicinal food with vegetables from her own garden. The menu changes with the seasons, offering a slightly different meal each time. Each meal includes hot tea, vegan vegetable soup, yellow rice, and over 15 different side dishes. I always enjoy trying the different banchans, with my favorite this week being a dehydrated fruit with a rich sauce. The meal ends with a cold citron tea for digestion. It is recommended to make a reservation as the restaurant can get busy. Gamloheon is located in the Geumam neighborhood of Jeonju, easily accessible from the new gate of Chonbuk National University. I highly recommend Gamloheon for impressing visitors, whether they are vegan or not!
