St James Tea Room - Ilfracombe

We enjoyed sitting outside with our dog in a lovely, flower-filled setting that was bustling with birds. The staff was exceptionally friendly and polite. We ordered cream tea, and my husband's non-gluten-free scones were enormous and smelled incredible. My gluten-free scones, while smaller, were absolutely delicious—not dry or crumbly like those I've had at other places. They came with a generous serving of jam and cream. Although there were other gluten-free options on the menu, I was too full to try them after the delightful scones. I highly recommend this place!

I had Devon cream tea today, and the waiter mentioned that the scones were store-bought to reduce the risk of cross-contamination. They were delicious, served with cream and jam. I would definitely recommend it and would love to return!

The staff is very accommodating. While they don't have a dedicated gluten-free menu, they are willing to adapt dishes to meet specific dietary needs. We dined there several times without any issues, even with my daughter’s multiple allergies and celiac disease. I would recommend this restaurant if you're in Ilfracombe; it feels safe for those with dietary restrictions.

My gluten-free were naturally smaller, but tastes amazing. Not dry and crumbling like I used to have in other places. General help of jam and cream. Other gluten-free products available, but was to try them after the beautiful scenes. Definitely recommend.

Had Devon-Creme tea today, waiters admitted that the Scones were bought as a reduced cross-contamination risk. Beautiful bean with cream and jam, would recommend and go back, that's safe!
