Just had kind of an odd texture to it. Allegedly there were caramelized onions on it. I think I saw some, but could not taste them. Fairly average burger for an above average price. The fries would have been great with less salt. Hand cut and perfectly cooked, then ruined with what seemed to be a cup of salt. The server was all right, but seemed to be more interested in her phone than anything else. I had to get up and let her know I was ready to go and wanted to pay as she seemed so detached from her job.Over all, an okay experience. I doubt I'll return. It wasn't terrible, just flat out average and there are better places to go in Iowa City.
It is a burger place with a great bar. What else could you ask for in a place that has burger in the name? Unfortunately there is no longer a shine , but historically there was on the building.
One of, if not the best burgers in Iowa City. A decent value for the quality of the hamburger. Would have rated 5 stars, but the cheese curds appetizers were overcooked and greasy.
Underseasoned, Overcooked, overpacked, and ok quality beef covered up with a bunch of creative ingredients. Think McDonald 's Quarter Pounder without the speed or affordability. How this place has a reputation as a good burger place is mind boggling. It all starts with the meat anf these guys have no idea what a good patty looks like.
The quality of the food has tanked since eating here over a year ago. Stale buns, frozen patties (yes, frozen), and an absurdly small amount of bun spread that seemed like a joke. My husband ordered medium rare and I ordered well done and they came out the same). Thank heavens for their signature sauce to mask the burger taste. Such a shame because the burgers used to be top notch.
