The Fox Den - Houghton Lake

I came to Houghton Lake for the weekend and discovered this restaurant on Sunday. It was definitely the best food out of the five places we tried. It's a great family-run establishment that you should definitely visit if you're in the area.

I have visited this restaurant twice and will definitely be returning! The salads were fresh and cold, my husband enjoyed the burger and onion rings, and he also tried the fish fry and enjoyed both dishes. I personally loved the pasta carbonara with crispy chicken - it was delicious. We haven't had dessert yet because the dinner was already so satisfying. The staff is very friendly.

We have been eagerly anticipating our first visit to this restaurant and it certainly lived up to our expectations. The service was friendly and the food was fresh, hot, and delicious. I was so excited to try my meal that I had already eaten half of it before I remembered to take a picture. I ordered the fish sandwich and my partner had the steak and shrimp dish. I highly recommend this place.

Food was not good. Short staffed. Waitress forgot my side salad. Flies in the inside of window above our table looked like they were trying to get out. Inside seemed more like a converted gym than a restaurant. Boneless wings were good. my family will not be going back.

So, let me start with Natasha. Who tells us the story of getting fired for drinking a customer's returned drink. [I think she was hammered] she dropped the reciept book 3 times before we finished ordering Then proceeds to forget sauces and to roll the wings and bring sour cream. Prime rib ordered medium but got it well done. Jack n coke with a lime has Lemons, french onion soup bowl half filled... need I go on, OK I will..It's just a pole barn with empty banquet seating atmosphere.. happy birthday to me never again! Owners please reply with generic response that feigns sincerity or caring!
