Always enough staff on for fast service. They also sell beans ground on the spot for a plunger or cappuccino machine. Food and cold drink selection is adequate and looks good.
Hudson's Coffee Brisbane CBD. It may be chain coffee around Australia, but here the coffee here is quite good. Walking down George Street to meet up with someone, I was a bit short on time but decided to get a coffee anyway. The shop front is a little on the sterile side and inside has perfect cleanlieness. Unlike a lot on this road, the outside does have incentive for dining al fresco; that is more to do with surrounds than anything else.<br/ <br/ As usual I order a double shot cappuccino (which was simply a regular in take away). After being politely asked if I wanted any food, I did a brief peruse of the cabinet and subjectively reckoning that coffee is better with a sweet than savoury (namely coffee) decided on an apple muffin. <br/ <br/ With the service, talk about synergy. Usually I am used to the one person doing the coffee and getting the sweet. While the girl at the counter got the sweet, behind me without my awareness was another man who had already done the coffee before I could put the change back in my wallet. Both of these people were really good, friendly and proficient; this might be the quickest that I have gone into and out of a store for a coffee with ordering a sweet. <br/ <br/ The coffee here still retains a bit of flavour and is relatively mild. It would be good for those not used to strong coffees and also a great way to introduce them to what it can taste like. The mufffin was generously sized, this time it was moist on the inside. It was really soft and cakey in texture, and at many points I could taste actual apple and notice it in the flesh of the muffin.<br/ <br/ As far as the chain coffees go, Hudson's appears to have the best quality coffee. There are plenty of options around and there always will be for coffee, but in the case of familarity in a strange land Hudon's is possibly the most preferred for me.
Fantastic Friendly Service!. I was blown away by the enthusiasm and cheerfulness of the girl working behind the counter! So friendly and most importantly, everything about her behaviour was genuine! Such a rarity anymore. Based on this alone, I will certainly return to this location whenever I need to feed my caffeine addiction!<br/ <br/ Stopping in at Hudson’s Coffee after 1pm (30 Aug) it wasn’t overly busy but there were a few patrons sitting outside with an air of casualness to it for afternoon coffee drinkers to relax as the busy pace of people on George Street whipped by.<br/ <br/ Inside was clean, neat and orderly with a slight sterile-feel to it perhaps by the white tile floor and large glass windows. It struck me more as a place to get in and out of very quickly, so the idea of sitting outside seemed more appealing.<br/ <br/ An explosive and friendly “hallo” warmly greeted me before I even got to the counter. The girl working had such a wonderful, bubbly personality. I asked her a few questions about some of the items and she came from behind the counter to talk to me about then. <br/ <br/ I ended up going with the Coffee Cookie deal for $6.50, ordering a latte which I was then asked if I wanted with cream or skinny. Heck, if I was having a cookie, then I was going to go all the way – with cream!! I chose the Triple Chocolate cookie, which I was disappointed to find out it was the same packaged item found in a lot of other coffee shops.<br/ <br/ I was able to pay with my credit card as it’s cash under $5, which I greatly appreciated as I don’t carry cash. In obvious need of a bit of help, the girl, without even me asking, said she’d bring my coffee out for me! She was so sweet and deserves special attention to her wonderful customer service abilities!<br/ <br/ Looking at the packaging of the cookie, it’s made from a company called Spotted Cow located in Mascot NSW. Also on the packaging it states “...the main ingredient is love”. I would say the main ingredient is sugar. Definitely not a high quality cookie, it’s too sweet and is too processed. It’s too bad that Hudson’s doesn’t have a local supplier nor has connections to someone who can make a more homemade style cookie. Not a fan of this product.<br/ <br/ The latte was by far a lot better! A nice, rich smooth-tasting coffee with the flavour slightly more on the mild side. It had been a small coffee so I found that the foam was a little bit too much for the size of it as I would have preferred more liquid. The foam was thick so therefore still enjoyable!<br/ <br/ I also had the opportunity to try their Long Black and another cookie, this time the flavour being Cranberry and White Chocolate. Tough and chewy (not in a good way), it made me wonder how long this cookie may have been around. With not much chocolate or cranberries in it, this already lacklustre cookie was even more boring! The long black was quite strong. A coffee that I could see someone with a hangover appreciating because of its roughness. I certainly liked the latte a lot more!<br/ <br/ Although the packaged cookies were a definite miss, and the plain coffee a bit strong, the latte was wonderful and when in need of a coffee boost, I would certainly order this one again! But it was the customer service and the decency of the girl who was serving me is what will sure bring me back! “Value for money” can also be judged upon an establishment’s level of customer service!
