Smoky Tony's Bbq - Holly Ridge

We discovered Smokey Tony’s by chance, and we're so pleased that we did. The food was incredible—truly the best BBQ I've ever tasted. Every staff member was friendly and welcoming. Our waitress, Amber, was especially kind and knowledgeable, providing us with great insights into the different flavors and sauces. The atmosphere of the restaurant is clean, relaxing, and family-friendly, making for an overall fantastic experience and excellent value for money. If I lived locally (we're from the UK), I would definitely be a regular customer. I can't recommend this place highly enough!

I wasn't planning to write a review for this place because I feel a bit sorry for the owner. He’s putting in the effort, but the positive reviews seem to be mostly from visitors unfamiliar with NC BBQ. I’m giving it a 3-star rating due to the excellent staff. However, when it comes to flavor, there was no smoked taste in the meat; all I could really taste was chili powder. I ordered the pulled pork, and my wife had a half chicken. Everything was overwhelmingly flavored with chili powder, even the sauces. I’m sorry, Tony, but we won’t be coming back. To others considering this place, feel free to give it a try, but I personally would prefer places like Mission BBQ, Smithfield, or Moore's.

We ordered the four-meat sampler platter (brisket, pulled pork, half a chicken, and ribs), a half-pound plain Jane burger, brisket tacos, fries, mac and cheese, and side salads (just a heads-up, most of it was for dinner later, lol). It definitely deserves a five-star rating! Everything was cooked and smoked to perfection. I highly recommend this place. The customer service was excellent as well!

I truly enjoyed my time at this restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service was incredibly friendly. I ordered the brisket sandwich with extra fatty pieces for added flavor, and it was possibly one of the best brisket sandwiches I've ever had. Many BBQ places serve dried-out meat or smother everything in BBQ sauce, but these guys really know how to do it right. There was also a great variety of delicious sauces available on the table to complement the meal. I can't wait to return!

Smokey Tony's is a fantastic BBQ spot located on Highway 17. The dining area is spacious and well-maintained. Their BBQ is definitely the best around. Make sure to try the pulled pork or brisket; you won’t be disappointed! The sauces are also great, especially the original and white BBQ sauce. I mixed them together, and it was delicious! While the meats don't necessarily need sauce, it adds a nice touch. The slaw was a bit drier than I prefer, but it was still quite tasty. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Smokey Tony's!
