A lovely little pub just off the road between Gloucester and Leominster, close to Hampton Court and well worth taking the two minute diversion toThe staff were welcoming and friendly, the bar food good but not exceptional and it is here I make my first observation. Three of us had scampi, however the quantity varied between 6 and 11 pieces of scampi per person, why?Sadly the meal was let down by the coffee, it was not latte as one would expect in today's world, it was made from a packet. I understand that not all establishments can afford expensive coffee machines, but be upfront about it, we would have understoodHaving said that we would all happily return
The pub was lovely drinks were expensive but the menu was very reasonably priced. My better half had fillet of pork and it looked lovely and she said it was very nice, I had steak ale pie looked nice, But the topping was a very thin couple of layers of puff pastry it looked like it should of been thicker and the bottom bit was missing very disappointing, the pastry is to me very important! Then the beef sadly was very bland and fatty and the gravy was very thin the vegetables were nice and crunchy, but the courgette was hardly cooked my steak pie was very under par but our other meal was good and the venue was very nice will try again but won't have the steak pie!!!
We booked a room here for last weekend and had dinner and drinks in the pub.The food was very tasty but poor service being long delays before the food arrived. When we had finished are food we was told to vacate our table as it was given to someone else.but we was ordering drinks and had to stand after all five of use paid to dine here and we all paid to stay here to.The room also was not cleaned on the still i stayed. Its so such a lovely area and will stay elsewhere next time.
We had Sunday lunch here. Having previously checked vegetarian choices on their sample menus online, the vegetarian options on Sunday's menu were unimaginative, with garlic mushrooms starter alternatives melon or soup), followed by mushroom stroganoff with rice: and I think the rice was from an easy cook sachet. One of my companions chose Herefordshire roast beef: it was overcooked and tough. We had asked the waitress before ordering if the beef would be served rare or well done: she didn't know and didn't offer to find out. Nice old fashioned bar, with good draught beer and cider.
