We have vacationed in Healdsburg multiple times and had never visited Baci, so we made a point to dine there this trip. This restaurant is very clearly a place where locals go to get a decently priced meal (as evidenced by 85% of the people walking inwarmly greeting the owner at the door), which is fine but if you are on vacation looking for a stellar dinner worthy of yourtime I'd look elsewhere. We started the meal with the Burrata, which was not pleasant...the leek mixture (which was very muchunder seasoned) was warm gave the cheese a very odd lukewarm, undesirable texture. My husband had the tagliatelle carbonara, which was the best thing we were served honestly...but the sauce was very thin the side of chicken he added to it was verydry. I ordered the tagliatelle with pan seared scallops sauteed mushrooms. As evidenced by my photo, these poor scallops neversaw any salt, butter or a pan. Neither had the mushrooms. It's as if they threw everything raw in with a sauce and cooked itlike a quick stew. Totally disappointing to see such nice ingredients treated this way. Service was fine but honestly youprobably have better food at a local Italian joint wherever you are from. There are many other restaurants in Healdsburg thesurrounding area that are more worthy of your money.
The service was fantastic. This is a casual Italian restaurant, you'll definitely need reservations on a weekend. We had the Fettucini con Gambeterri and the Capellini al Pomodoro...it was just okay, pick something else. They probably have some amazingdishes but the menu is too big, over 50 dishes. Should focus on 10-15 and really make everything shine.
Terrific restaurant just off the Healdsburg Square. I got the pistachio crusted halibut which was fantastic. My girlfriend got a pasta which was also nice. The other person in our group got the ossobuco with risotto. They said it was excellent. So manygreat restaurants to try an Healdsburg but you can add this one to the list to try at some point. Wish we had saved room for thegelato sampler for dessert. The corkage fee of $25 seems excessive, but given the region and the type of wine some people mightbe bringing in maybe not.
The server told me it takes the cook three days to make the bolognese sauce. It definitely shows. My wife's scampi was a second solid court.
