Relish - Hauppauge

I visited for brunch about a month ago. The food took an incredibly long time to arrive, and the service was equally slow. The staff seemed to be gathered at the front of the restaurant, socializing, so the lack of employees didn't seem to be the issue. Unfortunately, my order was also incorrect. It was a disappointing experience.

First off, the restaurant was understaffed, which made the service painfully slow. Despite being only half full, it took nearly 10 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge we were waiting for a table—red flag right there. When it came time to order drinks, I advise against the bottomless option. If you do order it, be prepared to wait at least 30-40 minutes for your food before you see the waitress again. As for the food, one of our orders was completely ruined. We ordered the cinnamon bun French toast, but someone messed it up badly—it was slathered in lemon frosting! Seriously, who would ever want that?! The other French toast orders were just as disappointing; they had a strange taste that suggested the deep fryers hadn't been cleaned in ages. After sitting there for over an hour, I explained to the waitress that my meal was wrong and mentioned I hadn’t seen her for 40 minutes since our drinks arrived. Her response was sarcastic, saying all I had to do was “let her know.” I couldn’t help but reply, “How—get up and look for you?” In short, the place is understaffed, lacks proper management, serves poor quality food, is overpriced, and has rude staff with dirty deep fryers. The only reason I’m giving it one star is that the iced tea was actually decent, and Google won’t let me rate it any lower. Save yourself the trouble and don’t bother going.

The atmosphere was fantastic, and the waitstaff were attentive and friendly. I always enjoy the food here.

Where should I start... I'll give you the highlights Took forever for a waitress to come over we have no utensils on the table we had to ask a couple of times.. my son ordered a breakfast that would have been fit for a three-year-old.. in my opinion if all the other portions were decent and he was given some thing with barely anything on the plate you think the waitress might have said something to him he's 18....there was barely anything on the plate. My husband's food didn't come out until we were almost all finished eating and he said the pancakes were awful. Never again.

We have had brunch at Relish in Hauppauge before and always enjoyed our meal, but never thought about it a fine dinner dinning. Was I wrong. Had dinner there the other night and were we impressed with the quality of the food. We started with the Panko Crusted mozzarella wedges which was great, I had the duck which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My wife had the Tile fish which was excellent. Beside great food the service was great. The Hostess was friendly and greeted us with a smile, our server was awesome, she had a great smile and was super friendly. Great experience!
