The tables were all covered with wine glasses for water and genuine fabric napkins. The menu was enough of the size. Some daily dishes such as mussels and haxen were on a slate table. The wine map is extensive and really good. The corresponding winery is always called. We chose the oxen bags with vegetables and potatoes. Everyone got an extra sauce with cream. We liked delicate meat and good supplements very much. We tried a Pinot and a Lugano. Both very pleasant. As dessert we had Crème Brûlée and Mousse au chocolat. Actually very tasty only was the Crème Brûlée cold, for that the attached fruits were hot. We really liked it. We'll be back.
We have been there several times and have never been disappointed. Solid German cuisine, partly modernly interpreted. Sometimes Mediterranean impact, seasonal changing dishes beside fixed sizes. Ordinary portion size and delicious. Price level is fine. The bread basket for food is clear, but usually a delicious greeting from the kitchen. The house is nix (Schnaps, Kaffee .ä. Now the incomprehensible: for a few months it has been closed on Sundays, just the day that always offered us to go with the whole family in our own district. That's why we haven't been there for so long.
I can't understand the rather negative assessment of my predecessor, but perhaps one has simply made consequences and improved. Well possible. Anyway, I was very happy and would come back here at any time. There was definitely someone thinking about what he's doing. Both the interior and menu, service and ultimately the decisive result on the plate are well thought out. Not perfect, but very good. I like the ambience, even though it is not really clear what you want to be. Beer? Upstairs restaurant? There is still the charm of oak rustic, but with many bright and fresh colors a pleasant ambience was created. There is a style in front and the place is well decorated. There's someone's concept and heart, and yet it's kind of strange if you find a freshly painted green walls, beautiful white-green furniture and the somehow matching German oak of the counter then a very sweet and unrestrained PVC floor. Nevertheless, you can feel comfortable here. This begins with a friendly welcome and a finally unrequested recommendation of daily dishes, which I have not experienced for a long time. The service was consistently friendly and attentive, whether you have spoken with the service or the counter staff. The menu is petty-bourgeois with some beautiful ideas, without firlefance and not to be lifted off despite the beautiful ideas. At the beginning bread was served with a herbal cream, both fresh and tasty, just with bread I unfortunately often experience older dry bread. Then there was a nice greeting from the kitchen, carrots/potatoes in the glass. I'm sure you wouldn't have expected this, but you didn't seem overwhelmed. Tastefully well tuned, a little more ground perhaps still, but still delicious. As the main dish I had a Cordon Bleu from the calf with pastinaken puree (the supplement changed on my own wish because it irritated me). The meat was good and delicate, cheese and ham filled in good consistency, even here a spark of more salt would have done well during seasoning. But that's a great big panad that needs to be that way. Really great. And I was absolutely thrilled with the pastinaken puree, which had the optimal spice, strong, without being overwrought, a very good consistency and distinctly different and more pleasant than normal puree. Great idea and highly recommended. Overall safe at one place or another a bit of air up, in particular the balancing between beer swam and restaurant is certainly interesting in the long term, but definitely a place where you can feel comfortable and eat well. I can absolutely recommend it. You realize here that not just someone has opened up an economy, but has thought very carefully about what he is doing. It is not yet perfect, but it is good, really good and therefore from my point of view also the four points are justified. I'll check it out at times, I'm not from Bochum myself.
New brooms return well, says a proverb. That's not always true. After the departure of Gastwirt Imre Farago, the new operator has failed to connect to the quality of the former house Linden. Despite an insignificant increase in price levels, the kitchen remains significantly behind expectations. The veal carving for 19,90 reminded of press meat with a panade almost fused with the meat, which could no longer be detached from the meat and also tasted very fade. This cleared up the kitchen itself, but calculated the full price and apologised only with the necessary fart and a dessert. The mussels had a broth in which no peppercorn and no vegetables were found and which therefore also remained quite taste-neutral. Unfortunately, you will no longer be able to check whether the other dishes, for example on the daily ticket, are better, because we will only eat here if it has to be. The ambience is new only in subareas, but not necessarily more cozy than before, although the counter has retained its previous image.
The new operator apparently made it right: very good ambience with perfect and friendly staff, traditional and yet innovative, very good kitchen and a totally reasonable price-performance ratio. The menu offers something for every taste. And: The kitchen is flexible and willing to accept changes in the composition of the dishes, if necessary with an additional price, but it is more likely that the change is desired. I had a perfectly roasted carving with very tasty roast potatoes and a successful sauce and was very satisfied. I will certainly not have been here for the last time.
