Barcito - HAMILTON SOUTH

Enjoyed a baby mothers group lunch on a Thursday at Barcito. The staff went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our visit. We enjoyed a variety of Spanish/South American style meals and finished with yummy coffee and dessert. If you venture through the restaurant, you'll find a great outdoor courtyard. We are already planning a summer visit to enjoy sangria and dinner in this great find - without the babies this time!

After coming here approx a year ago we decided to return . The menu were freshen up with new items on it . Great flavour is to say the least and certainly would recommend to people for some chilling and great food .

Oh my goodness! Lunchtime $12 specials. Afternoon sun and the best hand cut chips around. What an awesome surprise. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Going to try breakfast next weekend!!

I decided to celebrate my birthday here, and chose the banquet option (for 11 people). The communication throughout the booking process was superb and cannot be faulted. It was important to me that I book a nice place, as the group does not get together often - and the kind staff member managing my booking put up with my continuous questions with kindness, patience and detail. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also great. It has a wonderful energy / vibe. However, I've given only 3 stars, because if it weren't for the kind staff and great vibe, I'd have been very disappointed. Having had banquet meals before, I expected that it would be a constant and sufficient flow of fabulous food, especially for $51 per head. I handed over $560 at the end of the evening (just to cover food), yet each member of the party left feeling hungry. For each dish included, only two averaged size servings came out - one plate per 5-6 people.The food also came out very sporadically, with a great deal of time between plates. My friends were having to approach staff to enquire when the next dish was coming, as they were starving. The staff on the night, when approached, were absolutely lovely. However if it weren’t for us approaching them, we would have been left completely to our own devices. They were not attentive to the table at all, and didn’t once ask how things were going. Between the minimal servings, and the time between meals, it actually reached a point where I was offering my share to my friends, as I felt bad that they had paid good money to attend my birthday, yet were left sitting there hungry!I wouldn’t suggest avoiding Barcito, as it has great qualities and I feel that it may have just been an off night. However I would suggest, if you’ve a special occasion and several people, make absolute sure the quantity of food (and timing of meals) is going to accommodate your guests. There’s nothing more frustrating than taking money from your friends, and handing over almost $600, only to have everyone rush for the cupboard / fridge upon arriving home.

I have been here a few times for breakfast and once for lunch and can say that breakfast is my favourite. So many amazing flavours and different to anywhere else in Newcastle. Try the baked egg and the tortilla with fried eggs and salsa. Really yummy!Coffee isn't that great unfortunately but margaritas and mimosas were my favourite.
