The prices are very reasonable. My only complaint is that the patty it's self had zero flavor that to me is very disappointing-because even if you too you burger with all these delicious topping it still will fall short because there no flavor where really matters. The services was great though- our waitress was very polite kind and attentive, she checked on us constantly. The side choices were interesting my spouse got gravy fries and believe it or not these were very tasteful. My Caesar salad was a bit soggy and also could used more flavor. I can't say if I would go back because it didn't offer that wow factor for me, but glad I gave it a try.
Stopped by here with my brother to get some lunch-dinner and it wasn't busy at the time we went woohoo! Service was standard and the burgers were good, the patties were cooked right and the toppings balanced well altogether. With the poutine, it was a filling meal and so it was worth it. My brother also enjoyed his meal and was content in the end.
I've been to this location in the past and had great food. Came back here for a bunch of friends from work for lunch. Overall the food was good and as expected. The problem this time was the service. The waitress did an amazing job considering she was one of two or three servers. But its lunch and the restaurant is packed of customers. It would certainly helped if they could bring in more wait staff. I only had 45 minute limit but I didn't leave after 1.5 hours. I want to be back but I cannot constantly be late back to work. Maybe I'll eat at 3pm when it isn't busy.
After admitting it was our first time , we were enthusiastically led across the menu: a wryly written guide that holds your hand, confidently *winks*, while smiling and letting you know that you are about to sit down for a great burger... THE WORKS GOURMET BURGER BISTRO (at 2 King St. West, Hamilton) does a few things -namely burgers and sides- exceptionally well. Their confidence is 20/20 visible; starting with their energetic and friendly staff, to a menu that dares you to sit back and enjoy yourself. Speaking of doing a few things exceptionally well... they know how to make a damn good burger. The 100% Fresh, 1/2 Pound Canadian Beef is a proud signature of many burger options served piping hot, layered together with care, and served in a cheesier fashion than you ever thought you deserved. The often-neglected details of this protein-rich sandwich are treated with massive respect; starting from the very top, all the way down to the bottom bun. The countless variety of pre-set toppings are arranged purposefully with all of your favourite flavour profiles in mind: savoury, sweet, mild, spicy... all of which rely on your highly customizable order. However, just as you would not tell a doctor how to administer your flu shot ...you get my drift. Trust the professionals. It might sound odd to describe a burger joint as Refreshing ... especially a place that is decorated with corrugated metal and a heavy construction motif that is built to look Ford Tough . However, none of these strange oddities will matter following your first few, eye-widening, and smile-inducing bites. THE WORKS manages to strike the perfect iron between both Quality and Quantity... and let me tell you, this iron is hot.
I decided to be a good big sister and hang out with my younger sister who goes to McMaster. I had tried the Works before and I have to say it is not the best burger I've ever had. Honestly what I don't like about this place is the options. There are hundreds of burger combinations and I couldn't make up my mind. Some of the burger combinations are outrageous, stuffed with chocolate or the Elvis that has peanut butter. I do like the service, the vibes and the apps. They have an amazing Cheese dip here that has 7 types of cheeses. They also have crazy poutines that are topped with fried onion rings. I decided to go for the fried chicken burger smothered in Frank's Hot Sauce, Cheese and Bacon. Love their bacon! Also they have great sweet potato fries. My sister who as a vegetarian at the time got a veggie burger topped with all the crazy hot peppers, hot sauces and veggies. I gave it a try and it was SUPER SPICY. I would give it a try if you can make a decision between all the delicious sounding burgers. Keep Eating, Angela
