The Continental At The Ford House

I had a reservation for lunch today. We had a funeral this morning and it ran a little over. I called the restaurant, a lady answered and all she said was hello. Thinking I maybe called the wrong number, I politely asked if this number was for The Continental at the Ford House. She rudely replied with, it could be. When I asked about possibly moving my reservation back a half hour, she was even more rude, saying that everyone was already doing that. I ended up canceling the reservation because I was so taken back at her rudeness. I have never been treated so disrespectfully before. All I can hope was that she was having a bad day and doesn 't normally treat people like an inconvenience to her. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

The Continental popped up in my Facebook feed and my Husband I thought we would give it a try. FYI: I would recommend reservations. Lots of parking, beautiful surroundings and very friendly Host. Our server was Leanne and she was very nice and attentive. My husband had a beer, I had a seltzer and for our meal he got the burger and I had the soup of the day along with the Maurice salad. All very delicious and portions were a perfect size. Had no room for dessert but they all sounded wonderful. We came on an evening when they had live music and really enjoyed it it made it a little extra special We will be back and might do lunch next time so we can tour the house grounds. Bobbie was fantastic! The food is excellent and Bobbie made our experience so wonderful! Highly recommend lunch at The Continental! Vegetarian options: The tofu is exceptional! I wanted to give a shoutout to one of your staff members, I believe her name tag said Khi. I came in today and expressed to her that I had had a long day, and after chatting for a bit she gave me my drink on the house. What she didn’t know is that today is my late dad’s birthday, and I was there to take a nature walk in his honor as he was an avid outdoorsman. Being a teacher, I hadn’t had time all day to think and was teary eyed by the time I approached the Speedster counter. Her gesture made my whole week better, and the kindness in her heart gave me a little more faith in humanity. The property is gorgeous, but it’s the people who make this community so special. It really is the little things. Just wanted to say thank you, from the bottom of my heart! (Please don’t get Khi in trouble for giving out a free drink—it’s good hospitality!! This is a 5* restaurant in all categories. My husband and I have been weekly diners here for nearly a year now, and I have to say it has never disappointed. The managers (Gretchen and Kristin) are top-notch as is Khila, our go-to gal at the Speedster. Food allergies? No problem here! The staff will jump through hoops to offer substitutions. In fact, the kitchen staff is accommodating to all special requests and no one ever balks at substitutions for any reason. (Ex: sweet potato fries with no salt, fresh onions instead of pickled, and dark greens instead of romaine hearts). The grilled salmon is done a spectacular pink and the greens and lettuce in the salads are always same-day fresh. It is obvious from our interactions with the staff here that they enjoy serving their guests. Their smiles and friendliness set the tone for a warm, comfortable and enjoyable experience. Surprisingly (because of the upscale ambience), the prices are reasonably moderate! We do have two suggestions: 1) Bring back the pear salad sooner rather than later! and, 2) Consider promoting Khila! She is on top of everything and, in our view, is a tremendous asset to this highly successful operation! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
