South Of The Barber - Greymouth

This is a fantastic place to stay! Everything is spotless, and the rooms are conveniently located on-site. The kitchen is well-equipped and immaculate; we've never encountered such a perfect kitchen in a hostel before—it’s truly in a league of its own. There’s good beer and a nice meal just 500 meters away at the brewery. Victor was incredibly helpful—big shout-out to him!

We stayed here for two nights and it was fantastic. While traveling around New Zealand, this place turned out to be the best we experienced. It's clean, the kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need, and the rooms are cozy. Victor is a wonderful host, always smiling and engaging in conversation. I traveled to Greymouth with my friend Trog from New Zealand, and we absolutely enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hostel. Victor and his wife, the owners, are incredibly friendly and have maintained the place very well. The hostel is clean, relaxed, and inviting. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The rooms, kitchen, lobby, and bathrooms are all well-equipped and spotless, and the beds are comfortable. The Wi-Fi connection was great as well. Plus, there’s a supermarket and restaurant just a 5-minute walk away. We even had a lovely view from our room. I couldn’t find any negative aspects to mention—everything was more than fair for the price. I highly recommend staying here!

The South of the Barber is an amazing place to stay with fantastic shared kitchen dining area, plenty of space, fantastic historical interoir with space for your entire company. It has a magnificent view over Greymouth and is a walking distance from the city centre. The hosts are very friendly and friendly and cannot be wrong. I would strongly recommend staying in this historic place.

A very nice place to stay, the personel are amazing and they will do anything to make your day. We got recommended a nice walk and some cool sights. The rooms were clean and tidy and I really enjoyed how the hostel is very homely and cozy. It is more focused on relaxation compared to other hostels, so if you wanna party at the hostel, this might not be the place for you!
