Rare quality of ingredients and finished products. Everything is fresh and organic. Lots of work behind it. A small place with very correct prices. A gem really
We ambled into town after spending 3 days in Chamonix chasing our youth. The town was all that we could ask for, with just enough space and "old town" feel. The cafes were plentiful, the people friendly and we were teased with an abundance of culinary sights and smells. We chose "L'Authentik" primarily because of our craving for some beef, as in a great burger, the presence of the golden hand cut fries probably swayed us a bit as well.I had the signature L'Authentik and my wife had the Bacon burger.....well,...let me say, cooked to a splendid medium rare texture with their special house sauce, locally grown onions, tomatoes, cheese and buns ( owners and chef proud fully boast that virtually all ingredients are locally provided) the fries and artisan Blonde beer made for a repas that I will not forget and will most likely break tradition or rule by returning to tomorrow night.Cannot say enough about the quality, taste, ambience and price. Loved it.
Looking at the great rating went to the trouble of making a reservation in person in the morning. Get to the restaurant and every table is taken, it only has about 20 covers, no one was eating or nearly finished their meals. Clearly going to be approx 30-45 mins before a table is clear. Unimpressed. Went to flur de thyme up the hill instead, would recommend this or get the authentik early or much later and don't bother making a reservation.
We went for a family meal with our three years old daughter. Ordered burgers and some extra chips. When we tried to order two coke zero, the owner gave us a lecture about how bad sweeteners are for us and tha no, she doesn't sell it out of principle. So she gave us normal coke ( is that good for you?). Then she spent the rest of the evening supevising my daughter. She was playing with a little plastic flower which was pinned on the menu and the owner hasn't lost the chance to reprimend her about it after 10 seconds ( cmon, it's a PLASTIC FLOWER!!!!!!) and then telling her how she should be sitting ( she neals on the chair as she is still little, otherwise she won't reach the table). I was already pissed off, then she brought us two soggy burgers and left us in peace for a while. The best was when we tried to go to the toilet. Imagine the steepest, smallest most dangerous stairs EVER and the tiniest of the toilets and you get the picture. I was actually scared of walking back downstaris with my daughters in my arms...It would have been an ok dinner, but she just has to stop acting like an annoying mother in low...
