Fukutontei Ramen - Greensborough

Nearly established restaurant in the shopping center. Always a sucker to try new places, especially Japanese food.Been here twice now and thought it would be time to do a review.The cafe or restaurant is very cheap looking and has the feeling of a quick sit down meal. Unfortunately the feeling is not mutual when it comes to prices. I thought it was a little more expensive for a quick sit down meal. Having to go to the counter to order and pay, just feels a bit cheap and when you order 2 dishes, a drink and entree and have hardly any change from $50, you raise an eyebrow. Maybe in a fully fledged restaurant then I would say the costs would reflect it more.The food was nice, but found out that mild in hotness was very hot. The curry I had did not state it was hot, but I struggled to finish it due to the burning of the my tongue. We also had some Ebi and this was also a touch on the hot side. So if you are like me, cannot handle spicy or hot food, ask the girl when ordering at the counter, if the dish is spicy/hot or not.Personally, I would prefer to go to Aijsen Ramen, the prices are better and the food, is much better as well. But if distance is a problem, then you really have no other option except for the local Japanese on Main Street.I may go back, if I am in the area and craving for Japanese again.

Have a brunch here on Monday. This is the new in Greensborough Plaza, close to Hoyts Cinema. The food is really good. I order the Fukutontei Ramen, the deep fry eggplant stuffed with pork mince and lemon lime bitter. The ramen is rich tasty, especially the chashu is made by pork billy, half fat with skin, soft and no heavy, white soup come with spicy noodle paste. I left the empty bowl. The deep fry eggplant is normal, salty taste cause on too much sweet noodle paste cover on the eggplant. highly recommend this. Will try other ramen next time.

The menu is pretty good. The food is a bit expensive. I did like the Eggplant dishes, though. Not much variety with drinks. The Tampura Prawns were very tasty.

The food at this restaurant is seriously good,it's fresh cooked just right and tastes great,their prices are very reasonable,and the service is good,big variety of dishes highly recommended

I was a bit concerned before embarking on my first experience at Fukutontei as the restaurant is never crowded when I have walked by.
