Fine hotel, but nothing special. we were in a recently modernized standard room. had a large room for two children, but not a sight. the personal has done nothing. pool was great, and location also excellent. parking easy, but some pricy at...10 euro per day.
We stayed in the hotel and were looking for a local rate, and my wife and I were both glad we stopped here. the hotel is located in the old rosentor (rose tower) has a lot of character and historical class. the maitre d has provided us with English...Menus for forgiveness and we decided to stay. although all the tables reserved signs had, we sat fast (it was about 7 o'clock) and the restaurant never filled out. the service was attentive and accommodating, although it is to be noted that the kitchen takes its time, so plan a cozy evening meal (not necessarily a bad thing). the menu includes two Prixfixe options, with 3 or 4 channels, and then a la carte menu. my wife chose a three-course menu, the achterman, before the appetizer, while I selected from the menu. the menu of my wife included a cream of pumpkin soup, bark and black melodies and a pumpkin ice cream with hot sweet patches for the desert. I also chose the pumpkin soup, because it had sounded so good, and a bark fillet with a crusty sauce. we were brought a free appetizer, a roasted sliced baguette with roasted tomato and wobble in a light garlic and olive oil sauce that was just delicious, but maybe we were hungry. the suppe, although a little thin for my taste (my wife had no such complaining) was delicious, and both our escaped were top-notch. I tasted the medaillons of my wife, and although the sosse was somewhat unenchanted (again, my wife had no such complaining) the meat was delicious and tender. her fried potato side was also very satisfying. my bark fillet was exceptional, melt my fork off, with a sneaky sauce I wish I could go home again. I don't even remember what I was, it was so good. the desert of my wife (I ate most ice cream) was a perfect finish at the meal. the restaurant decoration takes a back into the time, and I thought it was nicely done. my wife enjoyed old German quotes from the beams and walls to read. our waiting staff, with three, I think, included an adorable young girl who spoke very good English (I guess she was assigned to us since we asked for English menus) was very polite and considerate, and I can't mistake her for the timing of the kitchen that I mentioned was a little slow pace. only a wonderful dinner that I would recommend to everyone who enjoys the old town goslar.
From greeting, sitting opportunity, service, time from ordering to finished eating and decor this was absolutely a great experience. we didn't get a bad service because the young lady waiting for us was exstremely professional and polite. I know I'm going back to goslar. I won't even try to find something else. would recommend it at any time.
We arrived at the hotel one evening, admittedly without a reservation but we were staying at teh hotel. I have been before and remembered excellent food and service. But thi stime we were put in a side area away from other guests and there was...no atmosphere whatsoever. The food was ok, but the staff not particularly attentive. At one point we thoght we had been forgotten.
